Relais L'Antico Convento

Set deep in the Umbrian hills we had a wonderful if all too short time there. The apartments are spacious and well-equipped, making good use of the character of the building. Around the convent the garden and pool are lovely with stunning views on every side. It is truly away from the madding crowd - bliss for those seeking quiet and serenity.
The kitchen has everything needed for self-catering but there are excellent restaurants a twenty minute or so drive away. Although breakfast wasn't mentioned on the web-site we were able to pre-order this a couple of days before we arrived. It was extensive, varied and deliciously Italian (no cooking involved).
Antonietta, the hostess, with her welcoming smile, great sense of humour and extensive knowledge of the local area made our holiday true delight.

Room Tip: All rooms have a great view.

The " Convento" was a great place for us and our friends last September when we stayed for 11 nights. Our three apartments were more than adequate, big and roomy and well stocked with kitchen needs. Being a little remote it was great to be able to prepare a meal or have a B B Q outside and enjoy the lovely countryside.
The pool area is just beautiful and one can relax if the sight seeing of the surrounding hill towns becomes a bit too much. There is plenty of space in the common areas although we were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves.
Antoinetta is just a delightful person and will meet all your needs. Good advice on shops & restaurants in Umbertide & nearby towns and any other query you might have.
We used "Convento" as a base for exploring this part of Umbria and did daily trips to all the beautiful towns in the area. It is a peaceful haven away from the mainstream tourist spots [except on a Sunday morning when the hunters fire off their rounds!]
A few little improvements would be of benefit and we know Antoinetta is working toward these. Overall we were very happy with having chosen "Convento" and would be happy to recommend it { which we already have].
Many thanks again to Antoinetta for a wonderful Umbrian experience.

My husband and I have spent two weeks at the convent, my brother, sister-in-law and niece joined us for a weekend and then left us with our niece for a week. This says it's a great place for couples, families and children. Antonietta was delightful, super helpful and a wealth of local knowledge, apartment was delightful with a terrace that neither overlooked anyone nor were we overlooked.

We doodled around several medieval hilltop towns and then enjoyed the quiet of il Convento. All very lovely and we have returned rested

My husband and I spent a week at the convent with our children aged 2 and 5 (but wish we could have stayed for longer). The old convent is in the most stunning surroundings with so many beautiful places to visit nearby that a week is not long enough. We experienced an authentic Italian cookery lesson, a fascinating visit to a bee keeper and alpaca farm, a tasty local breakfast every morning and a beautiful 'Dinner Under the Stars"; all arranged by the wonderful 'Antonietta' who is at the convent every day to provide friendly and invaluable help, advice and assistance in all matters. The swimming pool was perfect with a beautiful backdrop and was a great place to catch up with other guests, all of whom were friendly and helped to make our stay even more enjoyable; our boys were particularly taken with "the girls." The owners Roberto and Francesca were very welcoming and accommodating; they keep the gardens looking immaculate and introduced us to some of the tasty local beverages.
Whilst out and about the people we met were warm and friendly and in true Italian style the children were made to feel welcome.
We would love to return.

My wife, 2 year old daughter and I spent 10 days at the old monastery. The place is located in the hills in the countryside. The place is unique in the sense that it is unspoiled, quiet and surrounded by rustick nature. Also thanks to excellent service from Antonietta (reception), sublime hostship from Francesca and Roberto (owners) and a second to none neighbour family we had a wonderful holiday. We had the best restaurant experiences in the small mountain village Montone, located approx 25 kilometre away from the place. A beautiful spot with panoramic views - a place worth to visit. The downside about the place is, that you do not easily walk down to a nearby bar/restaurant to enjoy a glass of wine along with some antipasti. However this is also the quality about the place if you are looking for quietness and relaxation. /Clara, Mette & Christian from DK.
