We really likes this little Zoo, it had a great selection of smaller animals including leopard cats, desert dogs and monkeys.

A real highlight was the red squirrel enclosure, where you can walk amongst hundreds of the squirrels, feeding them along the way.

It's worth noting that the Zoo is actually spread out over 2 locations, the main zoo is just north of the park, the other part is in the heart of the park itself. The extremely cheap ticket gets you access in to both areas, however the smaller section in the park is mainly just birds.

However the zoo was a little odd; it seems the Japanese have a strange relationship with animals, some had fantastic big enclosures and others had small and stark ones that didn't seem suitable.

Also, the zoo's elephant had recently died, which was rather sad. Based on the tributes left by guests, she was once the main attraction of the park.

Took my toddler daughter. Big draw was the petting zoo and also some of the other interesting exhibits like squirrel trail and monkeys.

English on most signage with good facilities for baby care, including diaper changing stations etc.

I didn't realize there were some very small, basic amusement park rides, which really excited her and were at the right level for a young child. Older children likely would not be impressed.

Enough grass area for a picnic or a bit of running around. Small canteens in the park serving the basics or bring a picnic lunch. Also a playground area with swings, slides etc., which help to burn off the last bits of energy before the train ride home.

Enjoyable overall and likely to bring my daughter back again. Many coworkers and friends who saw my Facebook post are interested to bring their kids as well.

"5" rating due to the mix of affordability and nice features for a toddler. Its not a replacement for a full city zoo, but rather an enjoyable place for a daddy daughter day or family outing.

This is a small "Zoo" located within Inokashira park. It is excellent for small children, as the zoo comes with a playground, rides, and guinea pig petting area. The animals are mostly small (birds and small mammals) but are available to see quite close up so the children were quite excited. Interesting for adults too! Much smaller than Ueno zoo but if you have young children, the size is perfect and can keep you there for a good few hours! Admission is free for small children and 400 yen only for adults. Note that Hanako the elephant is no longer there as she passed away in May.

Exhibited land animals and aquatic animals here.
Honestly I didn't expect the contents at first cause an admission fee was low.
But it was impressive! I saw many kinds of animals.
The smell of the animals was strong in Summer.

I visited with my girlfriend whilst we were in Japan this year. It was a great thing to do in the sunshine and nice to be out the city and doing something different. It was very small and there wasn't a great deal there, however everything was well looked after and we enjoyed ourselves. The guinea pig petting is well worth the visit and for the price it is definitely worth it, especially when you take into account being able to go to the aquatic life park over the road as well!
