Wandering the streets of Athenry, we came upon a most attractive building; bright yellow shuttered windows brimming with flowers and a matching yellow door. Stopping to take photos, we noticed a wonderful aroma and were enticed to try the place out for dinner. The Olde Barracks matched its fabulous exterior on the inside with adorable places to sit both indoors and out, great food, and great service. The two of us both had the Bacon Avocado and Brie Melt which was, in my opinion, mouth-watering deliciousness. It came quickly, too. The wait staff was nothing less than awesome. They were friendly, helpful, efficient,..... you get the picture. (Shout out to Damian and Mary!). Can’t say enough about The Olde Barracks. 5 stars all the way!

Cozy welcoming restaurant/bakery with delicious food. This restaurant has several cozy dining rooms. The food looked and tasted wonderful and the service was outstanding. The manager on duty even gave us a tour of the restaurant and explained its history as a barracks during The War for Independence and since. There is a beautiful display of their goods in the bakery section.

We looked on Trip Advisor for a place to eat on our way from Ballina headed south and the Old Barracks in Athenry was the suggestion. It was SO worth the detour. The food was of a really high standard and the staff were really friendly and attentive.
The place itself was quirky and colourful inside, not overly spacious but certainly not cramped and it was busy too which is always a good sign.
There's some seating outdoors which would be lovely in nice weather.
The desert selection looked incredible and I was really sad that I didn't have a chance to try some-until next time!

We stopped here on our way from Galway to Dublin for lunch. Easy to find, parking just outside and a great choice of food. Try the bacon/avocado/brie melt!

Delicious breakfast of Black pudding potato cake with perfectly poached eggs and bacon and real loose leaf tea, fantastic value. Can’t decide if this or their goats cheese salad is my favorite dish here. And then there is the fabulous pear and almond tart I took away for later. And it was delicious later. Looking forward to coming back soon.
