Our multi/generational family went to Ventanas Beach yesterday. It is Easter Week, so there were a lot of families there who brought their own tents for shade. A few temporary food, clothes and jewelry stalls were set up, too. It was fairly crowded. We went a high tide, so we couldn’t go in the caves.

This is a beautiful beach, a bit off the beaten track, but well known to local families as a weekend camping, cookout and swimming beach.
The water was warm with plenty of waves and stunning scenery all around. Abundant palm trees line the shore for shade, there are caves to explore and a warm sandy river that empties into the sea. It is fun to watch the local families and their beautiful children enjoying their time off together. Pipas, floating toys and other foods for sale from the vendor tents and nice cold beer for sale that goes down very well as the sun drops down on the horizon.

We didn't go into the caves (wrong time of day), but really enjoyed our stay. Very laid back. Not lots of shells, though, if you're in to that kind of thing..

I've been to a few beaches on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica and this is the first one that tempted me to swim. The water is not muddy grey like it is at most beaches.

The bay is very attractive with palm trees along the edge. It is all very low key with a few vendors selling coconuts and soft drinks.

Don't miss the two caves that are actually tunnels from the beach to the sea through the hillside. The only downside was the $4 parking fee, which seemed a little excessive.

Small but beautiful beach with the most amazing caves that you can walk into at low tide. As the tide rises, the caves fill with water as the waves crash through. The beach is very wide when the tide is out. A beautiful spot to spend a few hours chilling and enjoying a pipa fria while looking out to sea or taking in the breathtaking mountain view. The only downside to this beach is that the waves are "dirty" - the tide moves in and out so quickly that the sand gets churned up really badly and rolls around in the waves. The good news it that there is a small outdoor shower so you can rinse the sand out of your bathing suit before you leave! It costs a couple of bucks to park but it's worth it.
