I am always sceptical when the word 'boutique' is attributed to a hotel.Rightly or wrongly my instinct tells me it is trying to disguise something! In this case as neat and tidy as the rooms were and decorated in a contemporary style, they really were small! We had a 4 night stay and found ourselves keeping much of our belongings in the car because there was just nowhere to hang or put them without feeling extremely cluttered.Fortunately there is a free public car park adjacent.
We had read of the restaurant but were unable to secure a reservation as either House Full or Closed signs were up or there was a general air of unhelpfulness. Initially we were frustrated by not being able to eat near home and in view of the fact Saujon appears to be a bit of a 'one horse town', we opted to venture further a field and found some very reasonable restaurants up the coast where the local seafood is extremely good value.
We didn't take breakfast as it appeared to be expensive for what was on offer. All through our visit you felt there was perhaps a lack of warmth in the hospitality and the most animated the management became was when preparing the bill...the fact that we didn't share a common language didn't help and was only brokered by our attempts to be understood.

Room Tip: Size matters....try before you buy!

Lovely hotel, and very friendly owner. Rooms were good, clean and a reasonable size. Breakfast was great! The reason to come and stay here is the magnificent restaurant! I would love to come back!

Had to book our stop over hotel quickly as running out of time in tourist board. Wanted Royan, but Saujon seemed close by, which it was about ten min drive. Basic clean French hotel, with the usual quirky interior.Close to the town centre. Was given a triple room with a/c and a small shower room. Parking was in the town square outside and free. We were a little apprehensive as our car was well loaded with goodies, but the square was quiet and the car unmolested. Free Wi-Fi and a reasonable breakfast for 9 euros. Although the coffee machine was only topped up with water so became weaker and weaker. If we come this way again would consider staying here a 2nd time.
The plus here was the Le Menestrel restaurant next door. Not cheap but truly excellent well worth a try.

Room Tip: Would think all rooms would be ok as a very quiet square, we had double aspect and no noise, even had the window open.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here wih warm welcome from the owners on arrival. Freshly renovated blending modern design with the traditional building. Although evening meals are not provided in the hotel the adjoining restaurant run by the owners' son is a must - onlt wished we were there for longer.
