“Summer Holiday on Skye”

We had been wanting to visit Skye for a while but hadn't really researched where to stay, what we would do and whether we would manage to get a real break from normal life. Upon discovering this cottage via social media, I made contact with the owner and received an immediate reply. The dates we wanted were available - but only just! We booked and travelled to Skye at the end of June.

First impressions: welcoming, inviting, warm and friendly cottage. Great parking. A nice touch was the bottle of wine, Skye Ale, oatcakes and other food the owner had purchased for our arrival - a great touch. We inspected the cottage and it was pristine - beautiful inside and out. The main bedroom has views across to the Cuillins! The read bedroom has views to the lovely rear garden.

The kitchen was fully equipped - dishwasher, washing machine, freezer, fridge, kettle, toaster, cooker, the lot. The living room has a fantastic (new) flatscreen TV with satellite TV. The cottage also has wifi.

The bathroom has a bath with shower over it - and decent pressure. The bathroom is a good size but is lovely and warm for kids wanting a bath at night time. The hallway has a range of books (hundreds!) and the front vestibule has a collection of board games for families - again a lovely touch.

The cottage is situated in a seriously beautiful location, minutes from Talisker Distillery, The Old Inn and several other places - but is ideally placed for the Fairy Pools! Within 15 minutes from the cottage (by car) is the entrance to the Fairy Pools, a must-see (must bathe!) experience for any visitor to Skye.

Aside from being a lovely cottage in a great location, we also felt well and truly at home here and would strongly recommend this cottage for anyone visiting Skye.

“A lovely cottage, very comfortable and in an idyllic remote location”

Harris cottage was superbly well equipped and fully merits the term, “ Luxury Cottage “ when describing the place. Every attention to detail has been taken care of and when you think “wouldn’t it be handy if I had x”, it is most often there in the property. Everything functions well and the place was super clean. Well done to the owners for providing such a quality product. We will be back again some time or maybe even try to sister cottage towards the North of the island.

Liked best: The peace and quiet of the location and ability to head out on several walks from the property
Liked least: About the property we liked everything. About the local weather, you take your chances. We were quite lucky for the most part though.

“A wonderful place to stay in a magic location.”
Reviewed 21 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and loved everything about the cottage. The views were spectacular. We went on a great walk from Glen Brittle to Coire Lagan. That was just wonderful. Talisker distillery was a great experience as well. Much more organised than on our last visit in 1990. The pub in Carbost was also really good. We made friends with the black lab - Buster's son. We'd love to return for longer.

“Great Base for a Isle of Skye”

Very comfy, clean and peaceful. All the things you would expect from self catering cottage. Plenty of room for a couple, but a group of 4 may be a bit tight for eating as only 2 seats at the kitchen table. I would recommend for people looking for a rural location as a great base for exploring the Isle of Skye. Close to Talisker Distillery and Talisker bay.
