This is a boutique safari camp that allows for the perfect balance of outdoor fun and leisure. They've got it just right- with the spa, the food(they even have their own organic vegetable patch!), yoga terraces overlooking the water and a heavenly pool. The entire place is super minimal and clean, while the grasses and foliage are growing wild and un-manicured and never let you forget you are very much still in the Jungle.
Umesh and Lia who lead the team of Bagh Villas were the best hosts I've ever met. It's like they knew what we needed before we even asked for it. Hot water bottles for the jeep that took us into the reserve early in the morning, nimbu paani and fresh face towels waiting for us when we got back- they even made sure we got warm ones in the evening and cold ones in the afternoon.
The room has all the amenities you need- electrical sockets, heaters both in the room and the bathroom, a steady flow of piping hot water, robes, slippers, towels and great cosmetics from KAMA, and thank god it was sans TV!
We went on 4 game drives in the short time we were there and met incredible people like Vikram- a local who drove us into the forests and was beaming with pride and a beautiful wide smile when we spotted a tiger in the reserve together with him. He also told us some of the local stories from the area we wouldn't have been privy to.
Our naturalist- Srikant, soon became friendly with our group and amazed us with his ability to identify any bird by it's call or the genus of every tree we could point our finger toward.
In terms of food- they treated us to a variety of cuisines which never made us feel like any of it was repetitive and a lot of the fresh goodies were carefully harvested right before our meals- unadulterated freshness you cannot buy.
All in all, while leaving it felt like saying goodbye to friends you have grown really fond of, and I am super sure we will visit again.
