Just sublime!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 19 Jan 2021
Bagh villas is an absolutely unreal experience. A super luxury tented camp on the edge of the stunning kanha forest. Ok the basics:
the tents- stunning and super comfortable not to mention warm and cosy and lux!
Food- carefully curated by lea, thoughtful, dilicious, healthy and tonnes of variety
Spaces to while away time: so many! Sit by the lovely lake at the heart of the property, or by the cool quirky pool, or in the elegant reading room - it's all just perfect.
And finally if none of that does it for you, the service will blow your socks off! Managed and run personally by umesh and lea every moment at Bagh Villas is an absolute joy. They think of everything and are always two steps ahead of you. Fires in the eve to surprise locations for dinner to hotwater bottles for morning safari to coffee at 5 am in the tent. It's all amazingly thoughtful without ever even for a moment being overwhelming or intrusive. And also they are just the best people to sit and debrief your day and have the chats with round the evening fire. You will love them.
Not to mention their very own in house naturalist Srikant who is just amazing company and so happy to talk to you about just about anything you would like bout the forest and if yoy had enough of that is just lovely to chat with anyway about anything 🙂
So thnak you BV! Been there before, this time was fabulous and I will DEFINITELY be back!

This is a boutique safari camp that allows for the perfect balance of outdoor fun and leisure. They've got it just right- with the spa, the food(they even have their own organic vegetable patch!), yoga terraces overlooking the water and a heavenly pool. The entire place is super minimal and clean, while the grasses and foliage are growing wild and un-manicured and never let you forget you are very much still in the Jungle.

Umesh and Lia who lead the team of Bagh Villas were the best hosts I've ever met. It's like they knew what we needed before we even asked for it. Hot water bottles for the jeep that took us into the reserve early in the morning, nimbu paani and fresh face towels waiting for us when we got back- they even made sure we got warm ones in the evening and cold ones in the afternoon.

The room has all the amenities you need- electrical sockets, heaters both in the room and the bathroom, a steady flow of piping hot water, robes, slippers, towels and great cosmetics from KAMA, and thank god it was sans TV!

We went on 4 game drives in the short time we were there and met incredible people like Vikram- a local who drove us into the forests and was beaming with pride and a beautiful wide smile when we spotted a tiger in the reserve together with him. He also told us some of the local stories from the area we wouldn't have been privy to.

Our naturalist- Srikant, soon became friendly with our group and amazed us with his ability to identify any bird by it's call or the genus of every tree we could point our finger toward.

In terms of food- they treated us to a variety of cuisines which never made us feel like any of it was repetitive and a lot of the fresh goodies were carefully harvested right before our meals- unadulterated freshness you cannot buy.

All in all, while leaving it felt like saying goodbye to friends you have grown really fond of, and I am super sure we will visit again.

Room tip: There's no bad rooms! If you're in a group, request for tents that are right by each other so you don't walk alone at night.

We chose to take a break at Bagh Villas. We stayed at the tent and had a memorable stay for 3 days.

The property is very nice, rooms were cleaned quite often almost after every time we stepped out, food was excellent in terms of quality, quantity, variety and taste. Hospitality is what stands out at Bagh Villas and it is across all the staff. They really made us special. Where it really stood out was the passion for the wildlife, enjoying the nature, engaging with the guests and attention to detail. Both Akhilesh and Lia were wonderful hosts and left no stone unturned to make it a great stay.

The highlight was the safari at Kanha and the naturalist who accompanied us from Bagh Villas (Srikant) had a wonderful knowledge of the flora and fauna and made the trip memorable. We were also fortunate to have a close encounter with Tiger.

Every time we came back from outside, we were welcomed with a refreshing drink and towel.

We also did multiple cycling trips, walking on nature trails, spending time in the pool and star gazing in the night. We played Monopoly and there are other amenities to pass time.

We were picked up and dropped back at the airport. Food was packed on way out - it was a total package.

We had a great time at Bagh Villas and staying there and visiting Kanha National Park provided us cherishable memories. At this time of COVID, they also took good precautions and made us feel safe.

We went on a 2 week trip visiting the top national parks in India. Bagh Villas hands down was our favourite stay! The location was great, not too far from the park entrance, and in a nice quiet location. The food was amazing, all fresh, hot, and using a lot of local garden ingredients. The tents were incredible, the shower was amazing after the dusty jeep rides. The view is just incredible, and no mosquitoes by the lake. The hospitality was 6 out of 5 stars. Staff was all amazing, as were the guides. We hope to come back for a longer stay next time. Highly recommend!

Bagh Villas was a revelation! Sometimes you feel like places look good on the internet and seem to work in theory but there's always a few niggles along the way - none of that here; it was seamless in terms of logistics (a shout-out here to Akhilesh Nair, who runs it and is an oasis of competence, efficiency and good cheer) and perfect in every way once we got there. The property itself is beautiful and gives you a real sense of being in the lap of nature - it is important that a property as luxurious as this one can still allow you to feel so immersed. One can spot hundreds of birds on the property; our walk to dinner and back usually involved stopping to watch fireflies; the pool is utterly gorgeous and you can stop between laps just to watch trees and birds and take it all in. The food was made with care and always fresh and wonderful (a nod here to Lia, who makes it all work without a slip). The naturalists are passionate and interesting people (high-give to Panish Bharadwaj who led us to our first male tiger sighting, a black-shouldered kite and so much more). The housekeeping team are like ninjas - our tent was always perfect and rearranged every time we stepped out to lunch, dinner or safari and yet we never once saw them go in and out once! As if all this wasn't perfect enough, there are two Rajapalayam hounds we got to meet as well! We stayed for 4 nights and wished we could stay longer - so we've promised ourselves that we will be back for atleast a week next year.
