“A place simply far from the maddening crowd!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2012

Went there for a family vacation in june 2011.

Beautifully located on the banks of the naukuchital lake. Its quiet and one can truly feel close to nature.

It has a lot of kids activities so the children are kept busy. The hotel has a travel desk that organises various outdoor activities and the suggestions they gave were very good. We did kayaking and also swam in the lake which was an awesome experience for the kids. There are some adventure activities at the resort itself like rope climbing, flying fox, burma bridge etc which are a lot of fun. We also went for trekking (organised by the travel desk) in the surrounding hills, a truly invigorating experience. The hotel also organised cooking classes and a lil competition at the end which the kids as well as the adults enjoyed.

Overall although the place does not have much of sightseeing, the hotel organises a lot of activities that keep you occupied. The surroundings are serene and breath taking.

Rooms are neat and clean. The staff was a little slow but cordial and friendly. Food was quiet good.

We were at Dancing Waters in June 2012 and our overall experience was good. The best thing about the property is its location - away from over crowded Nanital, the resort is located in Naukuchiyatal. The Naukuchiyatal lake is adjacent to the resort and there is a private approach way from the resort itself. The resort has a warm and welcoming staff, nice spacious rooms, in-house kitchen and a funzone, which also doubles up as the travel desk.

This property was earlier a boarding school's hostel - just for information !!

The food in their restaurant is amazing and very reasonably priced. There is options for Al-carte or buffet and both are very good. There is separate kids menu too. The kitchen offers packaged deal as well for the meals - I preferred not to go for it, but you may try your options. The staff, not to forget, is very polite and accommodating. Try veg pizza - I am sure you will love it. For people who like some spirits, there is a beer bar - I tried by first beer here. Try Shandy - the beer cocktail.

A special mention for wonderful towel art by the housekeeping staff - my 2 year old daughter was in love with all kinds of animals they used to make after the room cleaning.

The resort has a doctor on call - comes very handy in time of need.

The resort does not have pool or gym - but then I doubt if you would find time for it.

Since we arrived early morning and the rooms were not free until 12noon, we decided to take up the in-house rope activities and go for canoeing in the lake. These activities are charged separately by the resort's travel desk. Canoeing is Rs. 400 per person but we took up the package of Rs.1800 including the rope activities for 2Adults + 1 child. However, after taking up the package, we realized that it would have been cheaper to take it Al-carte. A word of caution on the travel desk - the person is not very good at communicating the details. For example, in the package, we were told that there are 5 rope activities - and to our lay understanding, it looked like each of us can do all 5. But it is 5 attempts and will have to be distributed between the group. Though the travel desk can arrange cabs for site seeing, I found it way expensive. While they offered Rs.2800 for a day trip to Nainital in a 7 seater, I could arrange the same @ Rs. 1600 from the taxi stand just outside the resort. My advice will be to explore options before signing up with the resort's travel desk. You can find some other activities like Paragliding at the resort - try to find out offline ways before booking at the resort.

On the things to do - a day out to Nanital is a must - book your trolley tickets one day in advance and hotel staff can help. We did not get a ticket on the spot and had to miss it. Dont fall for touts and "local site seeing taxis" in Nanital - they are not safe. If you wish to, you can take a strol down to bheemtal, about 5KM from the resort. But there isnt really anything else worth spending money. Saat-tal - it has nothing there. There is an option of going to Ghodakhaal, Tea Graden, Ramgarh (fruits are good here), Mansarover (take a guide here for Rs.100 and he will take you a small trek - must see if you are here) and back. This is a 7 hour trip and costs about Rs 2000 from the local taxi stand with a 7 seater. If it is raining, allow extra time, there can be road blocks.

Another caution - do not go out of the resort after dark. You can find some animals and they can be dangerous at times.

Overall - I would rate this property as 4 on 5 for wonderful hospitality. Full thumbs up.

Room Tip: Though all the ground floor rooms are studio, opt for rooms on the right side on the ground floor...

Dancing waters ...club mahindra .

BEST TIME TO VISIT : october-march , a must visit place
: april to july : not the best of times , avoidable !

LOCATION : the most positive aspect of the resort is its location , they have a nice walk down to the lake, plus the shikaras, the boat rides ,kayaking ,canoeing all drop you till club mahindra through the lake.one should try the kayaking and canoieng

FOOD : Nothing great to talk about , the staff does an over whelming job . the food is bearable but nothing to rave about. Ala carte takes minimum 30-45 minutes !when i visited this place and ordered for a jeera rice , and beleive me i was denied saying they had no jeera (cuminum )!! bu tover all and the staff does a very good job to cover all the loop holes in the fod department. The buffet option that club mahindra provides is decent, quantity but not so "tasty" quality !

ROOMS :the rooms are good , we got a bigger room, there is no direct view of the lake from any room of this resort as there are lot of pine trees obstructing the view .

FUN ZONE : like all club mahindra this too has a decent sized fun zone , enough to keep the kids busy!

STAFF: the staff is saving a lot of face and grace for club mahindra , ever smiling , ever helping staff makes the stay pleasurable and remarkable.

Overall if visiting from october to march this is definately a pleasant place to be.
