Resort has poor food except burger at bar
Drinks are good
Friendly staff
Beach is amazing

Too bad the beach bar opened last day before we left.

Entertainment is good for older generation
Bingo anyone?
Crazy games 5 minutes after done?
Dancing lessons another 5 min.

Poor very poor.

Nightly entertainment is worst i have ever seen in my life .
Only 1 night was ok.
Hige line to wait to get table if you have a party of 11.even if you reserve earlier.

A la carte is ok , food was good, no music
No good vibe.

Servers are nice and bartenders.

We did not went with high expectations but it was worst than we were hoping for.
Its cuba, i had to fix tv no signal
Power out hanging out of socket vires exposed sparking, complained about problems, they did nothing .

Every night had to pull beds away from outlet so no one will be electrocuted during sleep.

Ocean view room we got no extra charge,
Big room with balcony we asked for 2. Floor got main floor. And so on so on.

We try to remember that the place was secluded quite and beach was beautiful.

Wife's were not happy with place at all!
If you want quite place away far far away from city's and you retired this is a good place to go.
Excursion is expensive to get to taxis are 240 cuc to go back and forth.
On top of excursions cost.

Be aware of this. Costly mistake 6 hours back an forth to holguin.

I just want to say :
Cheap but beach is worth it!

My husband and look forward to our return to Cova all year. We love the people, the beach and the feeling of being so welcomed there. We can over look the short comings of the resort because in our opinion the pros out way the cons. Yes they have occasional power outages, at times water is limited and the food is very repetitive. They do the very best with what they have and try very hard to accommodate everyone. The people who work there are second to none, from the maids, dietary staff, entertainment team, maintenance workers, banker, bartenders, cook, front line desk workers and management. They always greet you with a smile and a wave. Our room was clean and we enjoyed the upgrades, they try the best with what little they have. The beach is the most beautiful and a perfect place for a working couple to relax and unwind from a hectic work schedule at home. My greatest disappointment was the Rancheon was under renovations and was not in full operation while we were there. This has always been our "hang out" and it was not quite the same as the staff we have grown to love were not working together and we felt the disconnect. We plan to return in March and look forward to the Rancheon once again in full swing. There has been many upgrades to the resort that did not go unnoticed from my husband and myself. We love Cova and will always return because of the people and the beach.

we traveled from Ontario with sunwing, in my opinion sunwing is terrible now. anyways, the hotel was so beautiful when we arrived even though it was at midnight. we got into the room and there was 3 beds for us two which was nice actually, although I pulled down my sheets and I did find one bug.... no big deal so far. Don't eat meat your first day there, I got sick the first day. not sure from what but it was bad. the food is the same all the time, of course that is expected considering it was cuba. the pool was fairly clean, but its huge which is great! the swim up bar no one is ever working there. and half the time chairs by the pool or the beach was hard to find. the beach has amazing sand, sand fleas though so don't lay in the sand. the people are absolutely amazing! power and water went off twice out of 7 days, there wasn't much hot water but that's typical. it only rained at night when we arrived, and our last day there, but then it stopped 30 minutes after. Do excursions! we went to Puerto Padre and Las Tunas, they were stunning. take things for the Cubans, such as shampoo, suckers, toothpaste, even clothes, plastic bagies, spices, utensils, etc. also for yourself bring a flashlight as some pathways are dark, bring bug spray, and snacks if your a person who doesn't really like different foods, maybe bring bottles of water but at the resort they are 0.50 (pesos). at night the shows start at 930, so go to them, they are pretty good. on your first day, tip people so they will treat you good your whole stay. the air conditioner is good, but I think it might have given me a cold.... bring hand sanitizer as it is quite dirty at times. over all it was a good trip, the resort was ok I have been to better. but cuba was perfect.

My husband and I travelled again to Brisas Covarrubias at the beginning of December and as usual we were welcomed back into the Cova family with open arms. We saw a few nice changes and were informed the new beach restaurant would be completed after we left.
Our room was very clean, we were given a lovely ocean view, but sad to say after two days and much rain we had a leakage in our closet which could not be repaired at the time so the rooms manager insisted we move and showed us two more lovely rooms, plus Raymond, the maiantenance man was at our door ready to help with the move and check to ensure nothing was left behind. Many thanks to Ramon, the best.
Food preparation and presentation was good, not an elaborate selection, but we have to remind ourselves this is Cuba and sometimes items are difficult to get. I would suggest in the restaurant if possible, a coffee, milk and hot water urn.
Public washrooms were always clean and supplied with toilet paper and soap, The nice touch was a small flower arrangement.
Needing a snack, one could find fries, hot dogs, ham and cheese sandwiches, plus cappuchino always the best and if you can take a small container of cinnamon it will be really appreciated.
We did not see too many dancers this time, but every evening there was a different musical group. If you wanted to be serenaded the group would gladly oblige. With enough participants, there are dance lessons, exercise classes, crazy games and of course the age old bingo. Sometimes one wins a bottle of rum or free massage. The Activities group work hard to keep everyone laughing and hats off to DJ Mike who plays the most wonderful music. We have visited many other hotels in Cuba, but this young man needs to be congratulated for his lovely choice of music.
The beach was still good, and although there are small sandy paths one is tempted to cross the grass to their rooms. Be careful,if you stray off the path, the grass has prickles which attach everywhere.
The Air Transat rep is the best, always available, walking around chatting with everyone. I forgot the charger to my cell and within a few minutes it was on charge in the coffee shop. Also not enough kudos to the rep of the travel company to the airport who made sure. because we had skipped breakfast, bought some fruit on the way to the airport. Please say "Hello" to this great guy Michael.
The receptionists never failed to pass on messages or calls, the store assistant willing to make a call to the town for us and many, many more too numerous to mention, but they all deserve recognition..
If you are looking for a quiet spot, no outside activity unless you take a taxi, then this is the place. Many new friends we have made over the years are adamant they would not return. Well on arrival home, they want to return and we have heard this so many times. The downside is the mosquitos and they do spray twice a day, so a good repellant is advised.
The guys who clean the beach area are lovely people,so we took the liquid drink, gave them a bottle of water and it was appreciated so much.
By this time you can gather we will return possibly in September and if you have any questions, please feel free to email and I will try to help. One more thing, baby medications, creams, underwear will always be appreciated.

The property is kept up amazingly. The people that work at Brisas Covarrubias are some of the most genuinely friendly Cubans I have ever met (Been to Cuba 5 times). We knew going into this holiday that the hotel was average. So here some points.

Room was always clean
Towel Art was great
Buffet always clean
Food preparation (Tasty)
Drinks were not watered down (Very strong in some cases)

Chiggers, Sand Fleas and Sand Flies (bug bites)!
Only had hot water two days out of seven
One day no water
Power outage (Didn't last long)
Food choices (not much variety)
Long line ups for the Buffet (minimum 1/2 hour line up to get into Buffet)
Lack of lights
Electrical (We had four switches in our room, we could not figure out what they were for)
Lack of Sun huts on the beach (Size of the hotel, they need more)
