Ordesa National Park is a protected area in the Spanish Pyrenees. Access by motor vehicle is prohibited, but a special bus takes you from the main carpark at Torla right into the heart of the national park, where you can follow a nuber of relatively straightforward walks through the magnificant mountain scenery, talking in deep forest, breathtaking views and beautiful waterfalls. There is a good cafe/restaurant at the drop-off point, and on a summer's day I can think of nowhere better to enjoy a cold beer and a bite to eat.
In all seriousness the National Park and surrounding area ranks amongst the most spectacular and unspoilt mountain regions I have ever seen (and I've visited many!). The
canyon at Ordesa is rightly compared to the Grand Canyon. My wife & I spent two weeks camping on the edge of Ordesa in July 2010, and it was one of the most relaxing and fascinating holidays we have ever experienced. 100% recommend it!
