Well priced carvery. 3 choices of meat and you can have a slice of each. The turkey was lovely and succulent, the gammon was very tasty but the beef could have been a little rarer. Good selection of veggies but the roast potatoes should have been crispier and the stuffing was extremely dry.

Visited again today. Food as you would expect.
Once again shocking manner from people serving at the tills. In particular a short chap with glasses.
What happened to a pleasant manner when dealing with customers? Not a smile or welcome from the man on the till with dark framed glasses.
Manners really cost nothing. Surely some training necessary in terms of staff on tills?
Toilets were disgraceful.
Location perfect for us to meet as a family but not prepared to experience poor customer service which appears to be non existent.
If you are after a quick food fill up and can put up with bad service then this place is ok. However if you would like to feel valued in any way as a customer then this is not the place to go.
We enjoy the feel of a place as much as the food when meeting as a family so will be looking elsewhere.
Can’t type stars in on iPad so....
Service fromtill people 1* at best
Food 3*
Value 2* as we like a nice experience and we didn’t get one!

Carvery vegetables had been on the heat for hours and were disgusting. The chefs clothes were dirty and the tables and menus were sticky. No attention paid to keeping areas clean such as condiments area. Overall, poor quality of food and poor hygiene.

I pride myself on always being constructive and giving open and honest feedback for the places that we eat at, writing this review is not going to be easy.
We booked to stay in the hotel adjacent to the pub, I will cover that in a separate review and in the interests of convenience we went for food in the pub.
Mistake, big mistake. When we entered the pub, the situation look visually like one of chaos, tables waiting to be cleaned, food on the floor and staff stood in corners not doing much, against our better judgement, we found a table, looked at the menu and ordered. Long wait at the bar to order and be served, we ordered the Yorkie Bear tear and share to start and 2 carvery's for mains. Glimmer of hope was the pint of Cocker Hoop real ale was good.
Starter arrived and was quickly sent away, I am aware that camembert is a fragrant cheese, but the smell of bleach like ammonia from the dish turned our stomach's, it was disgusting. We were offered a refund to our table within seconds, which lead us to think that handing money back was a frequent event.
We moved on to the carvery, just some meat, veg and gravy right? Wrong, our carver was on the point of being rude, meat launched onto plates and thrust towards us. The meat had clearly been on the hot plate for days, and the veg was just awful. All of the veg had been industrially boiled and was not only tasteless but colourless too, anaemic soggy roast potatoes and stuffing squares you too hard and overcooked to eat. Without sounding over dramatic, there was not one positive point regarding the food, most of it was left and we left to find somewhere else to eat and drink that evening. It has been a while since we have eaten in a place where the food and service has been as shocking as this place.
If your looking to stay at the hotel side of things, then do, the rooms and quality were great value for money and the place was spotless, if your thinking of eating in the pub, get back in your car and drive to one of the dozens of alternatives in the surrounding area, if your stuck, head for McDonalds on the A5 4 miles away!
We will not be returning.

This is the second time we have visited since it’s been taken over by marstons. First time was bad but put it down to the new change over. Tonight was just as bad. - Basic oven cooked food and packet smash.
- Staff serving clearly wasn’t interested in helping or seemed like they wanted to be there.
- kids were running round like mad. I would have expected them at some point to male the parents aware that the kids should not be running riot.
-Only good thing was the deserts.
- I don’t think it’s competitively priced for the food standard. Would rather go harvester
