We arrived yesterday and after reading the last couple of reviews wonder if those reviewers were even staying in the same resort!! Yes The staff are a mixture of Thai and international but every single one has been full of smiles and always greeting you with a hello and a chat. The location is perfect ... A small 5 min stroll from the walking street so just enough distance to be quiet and not much passing traffic on the beach. The beach itself is spotless around the resort. Often saw staff around clearing tables and ensuring everything was tidy. There are plenty of sunbeds and not one was broken when we walked along. In fact they all look brand new. Maybe they have all been replaced since the last review 2 days ago but every one was the same. You get to help yourself to beach towels from a pile by the bar so if one is too short you can take two !!

Yes there are dogs all over the Island and they roam free. So if they make a mess by your bungalow it's not the resorts fault !! They clearly have signs up asking people not to feed them to discourage them from being in the resort. But to moan about dog poo by your bungalow is not fair to them as they have no control over it. I'm sure if you made them aware they would clear it up for you though.

We are staying in a Balanese villa with ocean view and the room is amazing. The bed is the comfiest yet on our trip with quality linens. Air con and amazing ceiling fan keep the room beautifully cool. Tv with a few channels in English are perfect for chilling at night in bed. Fridge with complimentary water. The outside bathroom is quirky but beautiful. With two rainfall showers. One cold and one hot. Plenty of hot water and they give you two full size towels and two large flannels. Yes there is no kettle in the room however the resort provide free unlimited tea, coffee and cold water at their bar all day which I think is far better !!

Food so far is lush with a lot of options. We had the chicken fingers and a sandwich and they were delicious. You can have breakfast at the restaurant area or order and request they bring to your room to enjoy on your balcony.

I would highly recommend the resort and please don't pay attention to negatives beyond the resorts control mentioned in other reviews.

Yes we all agree the sea in Koh Lipe is nice but is not the only place in the world have seen better places with top service.

The issues are that Mali Resort has not feeling of being in Thailand most of staff foreigner. Garden view rooms quite old especially bathroom, we had problems with shower, taps, drain. Bathroom all wet because no proper shower place. No wardrobe everything in small boxes, if you have triple room very very small. The main problem is a fixed breakfast like in a B & B with little choice everyday same orange juice full of sugar. No choices of jam always same. At times you feel nausea. They serve toast of low quality bread and same fruit all the time. You have no choices And we are paying a premium price .I have never seen in my life a so called boutique hotel without a proper buffet breakfast. Even small hotels in Thailand and elsewhere have. The bathroom only had 2 small towels, no hand towels etc.
four concrete walls with a bed and some shelves. The bathroom was terrible. It was a dark, outdated room with no windows and bad lighting. The shower was not separate from anything else in the room - it was all just one room. bedsheets old and not clean with dark spot. There was just a lack of enthusiasm at times with the staff

i do not see any friendly smiles

stray dogs poo found near our bungalow . Is a kind of problem in this island never seen before, dogs everywhere, poo of dog on beach chairs.

overrated and overpriced island full of rubbish,

If you are looking for something authentic and with a print of Thai culture, then don't go there.
Everything is over made, they're trying to be that luxury resort without providing a luxury service and furniture.
The sun beds are in white plastic and half of them are broken, with no mattress but a short towel instead. Empty drinks and plates can stay for hours if you don't clean it up yourself even if they're not yours.

You will be indulged with two quarter of pineapple and a triangle of watermelon.

The + is the location and... that's it.

Beach area near umbrellas and chairs never cleaned dirty and full of plastic bottles

. To be honest it is far away to be a resort. It's more like a bungalow town whith few extras. I heard not once a "good morning" and never saw a smiling face. There are no Phones in rooms every time go out to find someone for any issue

There are not enough tables if the hotel is fully booked. We had to wait several times to get a free table. if that would be a 2 star hotel I wouldn't complain about one thing.

You will need to pay extra for cappuccino. the first thing we noticed when our boat pulled into Koh Lipe was how very busy it is. Not what we expected at all. Mali resort is located on Pattaya which, while pretty, is VERY busy and loud.

this is no resort. The property has no pool or gym or other amenities. The rooms, have no amenities other than a TV and DVD player. No kettle, cups, iron, nothing. There is no reception, anything you need you have to ask the bar staff, and you can't help but feel that you are inconveniencing them. In general, compared to our other worldwide accommodation choices and trips to Thailand this resort is overpriced.

Room Tip: better rooms near beach those near bar more crowded and noisy

This resort has a great location, right on Pattaya Beach 5 minute walk from the immigration/ferry arrival spot. Each room are individual huts, nice King beds, but we found the rooms pricey for what you received. The bathroom only had 2 small towels, no hand towels etc...The staff was very nice and attentive, and it had a good breakfast. The wifi never worked, we could receive some emails, but it took forever and could not send emails. That was disappointing.

Room Tip: Ask for extra towels

Stayed here with my wife for four days in two different room's both of which were lovely. First room was beach view and at times felt live we were living in a gold fish bowl as we were a few steps off the beach. Staff here are really helpful and can't do enough to make your stay perfect. Breakfast was included which was nice and there is free WiFi but it's slow ( WiFi is slow ask over the island not just here).

As my wife and I work fairly hard back home and our vacations are limited we booked our stay at Mali nine months ago through their website. We wanted to wake up with the ocean outside the door so we booked a Beachfront Bungalow. All pictures looked pretty nice on the website. When arriving we were given a bungalow on the second row and a garden outside the door. It turns out that Mali's definition of "beachfront" is based on closeness to the beach and not - like all other resorts I think we have visited - on its location in relation to the beach, i.e. on the beach or directly adjacent.

People checked out from two other real beachfronts the day after we arrived but we were told "it would take too much moving around" in the room planner in case we moved to any of these rooms. We were offered to get the lower Garden rate (which was only fair as we saw it) but that did not really help us. When going on that longed for vacation you want the things you think you booked. I think a better name/description than "Beachfront" would be "Partial Sea View" or "Sea Breeze Bungalow". That would most likely mean less revenue to the resort but would be fairer to its guests.

Other annoying things are the food poisoning we got from the breakfast on the first day and the description of the bungalow as "newly renovated" with a "stylish bathroom". Sure, it looked pretty stylish on the website, but without Photoshop the bathroom is only stylish and newly renovated if you like a 1978 Mallorca concrete bunker. I add some pictures that have not been retouched.

And lastly, as this bungalow was in the garden with less sea breeze there were a lot of mosquitos. We asked for a mosquito net but got a repellant instead so we could spray ourselves before going to bed. Romantic... ;-) We also had nightly visits by Mr. & Mrs. Cockroach and when hunting them under the bed I understood why they liked the place. It was hard to capture on camera but I guess no-one has cleaned there for ages.

Do not get me wrong, the place is ok and the people is nice. But their website is not to be trusted if you want to manage your expectations correctly.
