We had a large corner room on the 5th floor. Room 1522 was gorgeous and huge. A welcoming entrance way, a large and small tatami room with dividing doors and a wooden bath - all overlooking the river and township below. We received complimentary green tea, little radish cakes and a platter of local snacks which included sweet tasty seaweed, miso burdock and pickles. When we went out for dinner the staff made up our 5 futons and left a jug of iced water. Extra yukata were delivered within moments of our request. We actually tried to purchase some at the hotel shop but it seems they are only for rent.
The onsen facilities are just lovely and certainly worth a visit in their own right.
Breakfast was varied, tasty and plentiful. The staff were smiley and helpful and gave us a great waving send off.

I booked two rooms for 3 nights at this hotel. The rooms were very warm and uncomfortable. A/C systems did not cool as they should and would not power up from 10am-3pm everyday. Worst of all, the establishment did nothing about it when mentioned. The service during dinner time was slow and inconsistent as we were constantly waiting for drinks and to have empty dishes cleared. Overall an unsatisfactory experience. We will never be back!!

Bankokuya has been inscribed in the list of the 100 best hotels in Japan. We chose the convenient plan of 12kYen, however, the spacious guest room was excellent including dinner and breakfast.

There were 3 different bathing facilities by gender. Especially the outside baths on the ground floor were incredibly beautiful. The spacious undressing room was quite expensive-looking, too.

The dinner started with the several appetizers. There were so many beautiful and well-balanced dishes, e.g. assorted sashimi, simmered food, baked beef, marinated food, one pot cooking, etc. It was very complicated meal.

We drove there, but the hotel seemed to provide the free shuttle from JR Atsumi Onsen sta.
