We drove through Skye to reach the ferry.
A lovely experience, we even saw seals bobbing along.
Staff very friendly, the ferry is quirky and well worth a visit.
Highly recommend.

This is the way to cross to Skye. The road to Glenelg and from Kylerhea are both stunning with great views of the mountains. While waiting for the ferry we saw a white tailed eagle fly past. Highlight of our week. The ferry itself is historic and unique. It has a mechanically operated turntable to spin the vehicles round so they can can drive on and off in forward direction. It can only take 4/5 cars and max 12 passengers so you can wait a while if there are a lot of people but the view is oiutstanding while you are waiting.

we stayed in Glenelg in a cottage and took the ferry when we went on trips to Skye, it was always a great experience not only for the kids, the crew is really nice, we saw dolphins and seals... the dog likes you to throw the stick for him while waiting and the current there is spectacular

Maybe and old turn table ferry, but its top class and very efficient. Takes the effort out of some of the crazy driving on the narrow skye roads. You also get to see the seals who follow the ferry as it takes the short trip over to Kyhlrea.
