First of all, I'd like to ask you to know what to see at ruins of Japanese castles. Many people might consider that Japanese castle is the building of Tenshukaku (castle tower) that was the symbol of those castle after Nobunaga Oda era. However, there are many ruins of castles without those towers. When you visit ruins of Japanese castles, I'd like you to see other buildings and facilities as well as the whole structure of the site of castles. Castles were the places where the lords lived, but the military base at the same time.
Uedajo Castle is the important historical place where Tokugawa Clan tried to fall off twice but couldn't due to the skillful designed structure. Sanada Clan constructed and built this castle.
There are towers in the site now, and some are as of 400 years ago. You can also enjoy museum in the site.
Uedajo Castle is very hot area this year because the "Sanada-maru" historical drama is on air every Sunday. I believe those who would like to know Japanese history could have a great time there!
