Oigami Onsen is a small rural community near Oze National Park and Numata. We drove there as it was a easy short restful stop from several days of hiking and sightseeing in Japan. There are more than a few ryokans, hotels, etc here in town but we took one that was rated highly by Tripadvisor. i dont think this town or area gets very many foreign guests as it remote and very rural...but the locals seems to love this area!!! The hotel/ryokan is slightly hidden in a narrow side street but easy to find as there are not too many streets in town. The staff was out waiting for guests to arrive and very helpful. In fact, everyone in the hotel is very helpful, courteous and service oriented. The hotel is slightly dated but the rooms were comfortable/clean, and the lobby area bar was great for a relaxed beverage. There are 5 onsens (public mixed and gender specific) that were very good. But the most impressive feature was a fabulous dinner (kaiseki) and breakfast. If you are looking for a very good cultural rural Japan experience, you will get a good "taste" here!!! The Madame of the house was very gracious, kind, and an excellent host. English or communication was not an issue. Morning market was just down the street. Overall, we felt this place served well as a good overnight stop for the weary traveler, needing a nice hot onsen bath and great local cuisine!!!

Everything you would expect at an onsen ryokan but at a price you wouldn't. Staff very attentive, rooms spotless and the food great too. The views from the baths are pretty special also. Half the price you would normally expect at a ryokan so if you are in the area and fancy some pampering after a hard day in the mountains look no further.

This hotel is situated along the river, 100 metres away from the river bank. It is about 50 mins bus ride from Numata Station to the hotel. Free pick up service is available from the train station to the hotel. This hotel is a very traditional ryokan and the service staff are very helpful and friendly. The room is very spacious and has an incredible view of the mountain. The surroundings are quiet and is good for a simple stroll for those who loves nature.

Room Tip: Advance reservation is required if you want the best room
