“Farmhouse - simply wonderful!”
Reviewed 14 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

My wife and I stayed in the farmhouse to celebrate New Year 2015 with two of our good friends and had a wonderful stay. On arrival we were met by John and Melanie who made us feel very welcome. They had decorated the farmhouse for Christmas and had also provided us with a welcome gift of mulled wine, which was a lovely thought.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves during our stay, enjoying the peaceful setting with access to some lovely countryside straight from the farmhouse front door!
New Year's eve was spent at the Black Venus pub, which is within easy walking distance from the farmhouse. The food was superb and is well worth a visit.
On the nights where we stayed in the farmhouse we relaxed in front of the wood burner in the warm and cosy sitting room. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and certainly would stay in this accommodation again or one of the smaller cottages if we didn't have friends with us.
Oh, I almost forgot, the two collies loved it as well, especially the wood burner and Rayburn, I wonder why?

“Brilliant”
Reviewed 14 December 2015 for a stay in December 2015

Stayed for a weekend in "Inglenook" - one of the Cottages and was excellent.
Great character, lovely location and a trip back into time when I stayed on an Uncles Farm.
If you want a smart upmarket Hotel go somewhere else. If you want an atmospheric cottage where you can have a fun time this is the place - hot water bottles and all.... The Black Venus pub up the road over the ford is great - and no problems driving back unless the 300 yards downhill is too much...
Lots of info in the "Black Book" telling you whats on and where - and fabulous walks - plus of course the N Devon Beaches
Very clean, lots of old pictures and "things" and well equipped.
Highly recommended for a relaxing break

Thank you for your great review of Inglenook Cottage (one of five around a courtyard including Farmhouse). We are glad that you enjoyed the atmosphere of the cottage - we try to retain as many original features as possible, whilst still providing a comfortable and clean cottage to stay in.
The Black Venus is great - and the beaches are just stunning.
We hope to welcome you back in the future.

“Great place to stay”

The three bedroom farmhouse was spacious warm and homely. The local pub had excellent food so for our four day stay we never ventured any further to seek an evening meal.

“Look no further.”
Reviewed 24 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

If you are looking for good self catering accommodation in the West country, then I can certainly recommend these cottages ideally located for Exmoor and the North Devon / Somerset coast. We stayed in the 16th Century Farmhouse cottage and it was spacious and full of character, the children loved the playground and the wildlife pond. As has been widely noted the local pub the Black Venus does very good Pub food and is a 2 minute walk away, but remember that if you are returning in the hours of darkness to take the (supplied) torch, because dark in this part of the country means pitch black apart from the stars.
I must finally mention Melanie and John the owners who really do go the extra mile to ensure a good holiday. We could only manage a short break, but would love to stay longer sometime in the future.
