We had a very happy time in Capalbio and surrounds and Il Casale dei Girasoli lives up to its sunflower name. Roberto and Julia are very warm friendly, helpful hosts. The breakfast room is sunny and pleasant, and the breakfast typical savoury Italian style. The pool and surrounds are pleasant with great views of the walled, hill village of Capalbio, which is lovely. The room we had was rather small tho, with not quite enough lighting. The bath room was a little poky but it was one of the cheapest places we'd stayed and this is a Tuscany country situation. The internet was also unreliable but that's the countryside for you. The same reason they don't have Eftpos or credit card machines, they too are unreliable. All worth it. The place was quite hard to find tho and we got lost a few times in the meandering back roads, but that was all part of the experience. You definitely need a car to get there tho. We went to a couple of great restaurants and visited the magical and unique tarot sculpture garden nearby and the whole stay has left us with very fond and memorable feelings. We would return here.

I stayed at Il Casale dei Girasoli for 12 nights and was definitely sad to leave. Roby and Giulia were great hosts, always friendly, smiling and giving me great tips where to go. To Capalbio it takes you 5-10 minutes, to the beautiful beach no longer than 15 minutes. The rooms are perfectly well cleaned, climatised and with everything one needs.
The pool (very refreshing in this heat) was always clean and fresh, the garden had great opportunities to relax. The surroundings are perfectly quiet.
A familiary ambiente dominates and the hosts are very very helpful, in any case. If one faces a problem, they can definitely help you.
For families, couples or lone travelers, this place is great, people are great, the food is great, it is what one would define as the paradise on earth (situated in the beautiful landscape of Maremma)

Arrived from Rome airport only for one night. Very good service. Beautiful Italian countryside. Good value in late spring. Well fulfilled our expectations having lived in Rome for many years. Now off to the beach!

I am an Italian and was touring Italy with my American girlfriend showing her around the beautiful parts of my country.  One of our stops was the beautiful city of Capalbio. So we decided to look for a place near the city and close to the sea.  And we found this gem.
It is a beautiful little place with a very nice swimming pool (a big perk specially in the hot summer weather).  The décor was beautiful and very romantic, and the owner super nice.  He gave us great advice on where to go and what to do (speaks a little English if you are a non-Italian).
The place is 10 minutes away from Feniglia Beach and Argentario which are both beautiful reserves where the water is clean and clear. It is also close to Giardino dei Tarocchi, a beautiful garden inspired by Gaudi (don’t miss it).
I highly recommend staying at this place if you want a quite relaxing vacation with great amenities.
