This is a lovely old village pub where you can take the dog along while you enjoy a pint or have a great meal - very good home made Italian dishes or traditional pub classics.
The Italian dishes are always worth trying - recently a trio of mini arancini, home made ravioli stuffed with osso buco in a red wine sauce. I never have room for pudding but the brioche bread and butter pudding always seems popular for those with bigger appetites.
It is very close to Bicester so well worth a visit away from all the usual chains

We came for Sunday lunch , picking the best eating places nearby as we were travelling back from a family party, so didn't know the area at all.

We were a little surprised when we reached the Bull , on the junction when the sat nab told us it was another 1/2 a mile. The BLACk bull is at the end of the lane- find theBull and keep going!

Excellent Sunday roast and delightful welcome and service. Well worth the visit.

One question- has anyone ever reported seeing a ghost here?

Thank you for your review and directions as lots of customers end up at the wrong pub. I'm not sure if anyone has seen a ghost here, but we have had experiences where we've had pubs before. Interested to hear what you saw or felt.

Stopping at the Premier Inn in Bicester, we desired a more intimate experience than that on offer at the Brewers Fayre next door.
The Black Bull offered tasty well served food on a traditional theme in a traditional pub. The Bull is not too big and appears to be well organised and managed. My wife being Gluten free was well catered for and clearly the owners were aware of issues of cross contamination and the need to avoid.
I enjoyed my meal as did the wife who is always anxious about eating out.

Thank you for your review. It was lovely meeting you and glad we could help with the Gluten allergy and cross contamination issue. I think more people are aware of allergies now and we are glad we were able to give you an enjoyable experience.

I'm a local and so have eaten here many times and on each occasion come away feeling delightfully replete. Paulo does the most wonderful spaghetti with garlic & a hint of chilli (ask nicely and you can have 2 hints). Also, the sponge puddings are as light as a proverbial feather - today it was sticky pear with pecans.

Fancy something lighter but different? Try the avocado chips. Wasn't sure about cooked avocado but now converted.

We went here on 26th March 2017 for Mother's Day evening with 3 generations of family. We'd never been here before, but will now make a point of eating here whenever we we in the Bicester area. The 3 course menu offered a good range of excellently cooked and presented food, served by caring and friendly staff. The ladies even got a small Mother's Day gift! Brilliant in ever respect.
If you do come here for the first time, turn down by the side of the Bull public house (warning! we thought initially this was it ad the satnav said we'd arrived at our destination!!) - go down this 'no through road' towards the bottom. The Black Bull is near the end of the road. It's a charming stone olde worlde pub restaurant.
