Kalithea Mare Palace

What a hotel this is. The Kalithea Mare is spread over a biggish area but the rooms were only 3 high, good for stretching the legs. This is the cleanest hotel we have ever been in, typical very friendly Greek staff and the food was good as well, not easy when catering for a lot of different nationalities. The rooms are immaculate with loads of cupboard space and hangers for a 2 week stay, the bathroom was also exceptionally clean but the shower gel could have been replenished a little quicker. The toilet roll holder fell off on the first day as the grub screw that held it on was missing, we placed it on the side with intention of letting someone know about it after we had explored the grounds a bit, only to find when we returned to room it was fitted back in place, what a service absolutely first class. The entertainment was ok and could do with a little tweaking, saying that the entertainment team at the Safari bar were great, especially Lucy and Panda who is larger than life. We went in early May and there was loads of sunbeds spare, it was starting to get visually busier as we were leaving only after a week. It is very hard to find fault with this hotel, the only gripe we had was the reception staff weren't in a rush to serve you and take some gnat repellent as there was a lot of them, and that's it. If you do stay here you won't regret it.

Room Tip: Chose a room higher than the floor level as apparently there's less gnat's.

huge resort with a confusing 2 hotel system (mare palace and horizon royal). Just giving you my opinion : PLUS points : Clean hotels. Beautiful well-kept garden: making a walking tour all around costs you half an hour. Clean - a bit older- rooms. Very good kitchen with much variety. Nearby the kalithea springs. Shuttle bus to the beach (totally inside the resort).
MINUS points : Confusing system between the 2 hotels: 3 swiming pools areas, of which the less one for the mare palace guests. Impossible to know which blocks belong to which hotel. Not all restaurants/bars authorised for mare palace guests. Sea view partly disturbed by sunpannels and aircosystems on the lower blocks.
Insider tips :1/ Don't miss the Zumba sessions around noon at one of the 3 pools, even when not participating, you come in the good mood.
2/ A walk to the Kalithea springs : go up by the main road (luckily separated strokes for bikers and strollers), and come back by the rocky path (a bit more difficult but worth doing).

Room Tip: the block with the Thalasa restaurant gives easy acces for breakfast and dinner, and rather good se...

I've lived in this hotel for 7 nights and enjoyed it. The food is good, the compound in spacious and clean as it the hotel itself. Maybe the room was a bit small for 4 persons, but as you are only in the room to sleep it doesn't matter. Think it will be more problematic if you have kinds of younger age ( < 7 )

Room Tip: Corner rooms are bigger, you have rooms with see sight (more expensive)

Everything about this hotel was great! Clean, very friendly staffs, the food was amazing and the location was superb! There was no internet in the rooms but they had a system where we bought in bundles. The Hotel had a big area where we walked around after the dinner. There was also a big pool area. Definitely, we will go back there soon!

Room Tip: The rooms next to the pool had an amazing view!

I don't understand why this resort is not rated at the same level as the other resorts on the island that call themselves 5 Star. Get the all inclusive option and this place will be the best resort you ever stayed at.

Room Tip: Pay for the full board up front. If you don't, you'll regret it and will scramble to upgrade...
