I choose Yercaud to avoid the summer crowd at Ooty and kodai.GRT was a obvious choice because of its brand and repute. I think i didn't make a bad choice. The resort is located on the cliff edge, away from the main town ,surrounded by coffee plantations and other vegetation. The valley view from the balcony is good and you can also get a good view of salem city in night with the lights on and also the limestone mines.Beware ! don't keep your balcony open always because of the monkey menace. The food served is the resort is good, bit pricey though and service standards are more than acceptable .The resort has a good pool and indoor games likes tt,snooker, fuss ball, carom and chess. The half day visit of Yercaud was well arranged ,so was the 1 hr coffee plantation tour. On the minuses,i wish the facility had more child/kids friendly facilities like kids furniture ,food etc. Its a nature resort, so rooms attract insects easily, need to be careful.Lastly the food prices were very high ,sometimes even higher then in big airports. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and should be a nice get away for a weekend or a short break with family and friends .

Room Tip: Panorama rooms have good views of the valley, salme city in night with lights on and limestone mines...

Dear Guest,

Thank you so much for your review posted on Trip Advisor. We are delighted by your positive feedbacks, also we noted down the suggestions on kids food and furniture, in fact, we are inroducing free infant meal in our menu. Of course, the price of food is bit expensive as we need to shift most of our ingredients from Chennai and other metros to keep up the quality of food as per our brand standard.

Look forward to have you stay with us again and hope to exceed your expectations by truly demonstrating our service philosophy of “The promise of More"...

I booked this hotel on my maiden trip to Yercaud, and I enjoyed staying here.

The hotel is located at a convenient location - not inside the town, still a small distance away. Properly in the middle of nature - with amazing views of the valley from the balcony. There is enough car parking, and the movies and books collection adjoining the reception, which can be used free of charge - this was a bonus for us, and a well though out aspect.

The rooms are huge and impeccable, and tastefully furnished. There was an LCD TV, and comfortable shower facilities. Especially, I liked the huge glass doors opening to the balcony where I could sit down and look at the mist drifting across the valley. The hotel ambiance itself was very good - apt to take a small walk around and enjoy nature.

The food was a little pricey, but worth it. There were a lot of Tamilnadu special dishes like vazhaipoo vadai, vazhaikai varuval, among others. I haven't seen such spread elsewhere in small towns. The food was definitely enjoyable. There is an interesting 'skywalk' opposite to the restaurant, from where, the night view of the city of Salem was amazing.

I would thoroughly recommend GRT nature trails for a visit to Yercaud.

This was our second honeymoon soon after we returned from Maldives. The experience at both Maldives and GRT Nature trials was wonderful. We had taken the Panaromic view room. This hotel is built at the entrance of Yercaud at the 20th hairpin and the first time ever I did not have to search for my booked hotel. Very clean and big. Tremendously polite staff - no complains at all. Every room had a balcony to sitout facing the green valley. Very quite and drizzling throughout. Evenings are very kool and we could relax in their sky walk which faces the Salem city. The USP of this property is its view and a very well built skywalk terrace. The food was excellend especially the complimentary breakfast. But limited timings after which no food is available and moreover you have to travel a few kms to find any other restuarant. Twice we had been to Arya Bhavan which is a self-service hotel where the food was very very good. And I dont think there are any other good hotels in Yercaud. We have a big play area for the children where they would play from day till night if you would allow. They have a swimming pool too but it is very small. Not many options if you want to drink.
The worst part of this hotel was its bathroom. Though pretty big and clean. The bath enclosure is very small and so slippery that we had to hold the wall the take bath.
The overall experience was great and I would recommend everyone to stay in this hotel if you are visiting Yercaud.

Room Tip: Choose a Panoromic room to get the best view of the valley

Dear Guest,

Thank you so much for your review posted on Trip Advisor. We are delighted by your positive feedbacks and I shall certainly share the same with my team which will be a great motivation.

We do have an All Day Dining Menu which serves decent spread of food during intervals between breakfast, lunch and dinner. But the complimentary breakfast is being served only between 07.30-10.00am. We are in the process of renovating the shower cubicles in few rooms where the problem is exisiting as you mentioned which will be completed as early as possible.

Yercaud is a small hill station and just like the other hill-station the things to do here are limited to few view points, a lake for boating and few small temples. But our visit to Yercaud was made special by the choice of our stay.

We booked the resort some 40 days in advance as it is usually full during May-June. We choose the Summer Getaway package which included stay for 2 nights, breakfast, lunch or dinner, local sight seeing and a guided morning trek.

As you can read from other reviews the location of the resort is awesome. Almost each and every room has a splendid view of the valley. They have ample parking and our check-in was hassle free. We were two couples and my friend’s last minute request (at the time of check-in) to change his normal reservation to the same Summer Getaway package was promptly and gracefully accepted.

To say that the rooms are big is an understatement. The wardrobe & furniture are well placed; the true king size bed can easily accommodate 3 adults and the toilets are clean and spacious. The balcony along with the view is just perfect for the early morning tea.

In case you are too lazy to step out, the 4th floor of the resort boasts of a view point where you get a splendid view of the Salem city (great during the say, but even better during the night) and the valley. The Skywalk is ok, nothing great but ok.

For us the highlight of the stay was their restaurant. The buffet spread is simply awesome and irrespective of your cuisine / culinary preferences you will enjoy each and every meal. They had continental, chinese, north and south India cuisine and vegetarian / non- vegetarian spread was well-balanced and well managed. The rates are on the expensive side but given the quality and quantity, the buffet is worth every penny.

The resort didn’t cut any corners and we actually got more than we expected with our package. For e.g. local sight seeing was arranged in a comfortable SUV (instead of lets say an Indica) the driver was very polite. He didn’t mind one bit when we said that we want to buy swimming trunks so can you take us to some shopping complex. Also, we were served complimentary evening tea/coffee along with snacks which was not part of our package. In the evening the resort arranged few small games for all the guests (team building / HR type) along with bon-fire and music. The pool, albeit not very big was clean and inviting and indoor facilities were decent.

So despite all the wonderful things about GRT why am I going with 4 instead of 5 stars?

The reason being the resort was short on staff given the peak season and all. It took 10-15 minutes for the waiters to get anything which was not part of the buffet for e.g. Indian breads. When we asked him how long it will take and his tone and words were, well not what you call polite. It seemed the waiters were in a hurry to wrap up the meal so that they can start preparing for the next meal. Also, the restaurant was a little too crowded to our liking and at times we had to wait in a queue to get a serving.

The wi-fi was not working due to some router issue and when I enquired with the front desk they said that wi-fi will not work on iPad (much to my amusement I must add). I told them it has something to do with their router and maximum number of users that can login at one point of time but to no avail. The second day when my colleague & other guests complained about the same, they called their engineer who rectified the same by calling the ISP. Apparently somebody had reset the maximum simultaneous logins to the hotel wi-fi to just 1.

Apart from such small incidences out stay was splendid. We went toYercaud to unwind and the resort lived up to all our expectations.

Room Tip: Even the entry level rooms are good. but try the rooms on 2nd and 3rd floor for a even better view.
