A quaint place to go for a nice relaxing meal with the option to sit outside.
We did not book which resulted in a 30 minute wait until our order was started as there was only one chef on duty that night. The courteous server explained this to us upon arrival and we were happy to wait. A few drinks outside on a lovely sunny evening with decent views.
The menu selection was varied although not large. The food quality was of a very high standard with the quantity sufficient. Service was also very good.
Draft beer choices were a little limited, but it was nice to get a good cold pint of Peroni on draught.

We bought vouchers for afternoon tea from Travelzoo for my brother and his wifes birthdays. They were thoroughly disappointed. NO butter on the sandwich bread, the bread was sliced very thickly! The sandwich fillings were extremely mean.
They asked if they could have a table somewhere other than the conservatory because it was so hot, they were not offered anywhere else so they just sweltered!
Staff were wandering through with vacuum cleaners, boxes and crates. They felt as though they were in the way.
They said that there was one consolation the scones were delicious. Expensive scones though!

I'm not sure when you visited us for afternoon tea so I find it a little dificault to give a full answer to your comments. There is absolutely no reason why you couldn't have been served afternoon tea on our terrace as many of our guests op[t for that so I can only think this was some sort of misunderstanding and can only apologise. As regards your comments on the tea itself I am both disappointed and baffled as our teas are enjoyed by so many so it would seem something went wrong on this occasion. I wish you can drwan your disappointment to our attention at the time so we could have done something about it. However please accept my apologies.

Eating out is not all about the food....it’s the whole experience....and this left us disappointed. The food was a mixed bag. The soufflé starters were delicious as was the pigeon starter and the lamb main. The beef was very fatty and the pork was average. We dined in the restaurant which had no atmosphere whatsoever. It wasn’t very busy which didn’t help and no music which could have softened the ambience. The waitresses obviously didn’t want to be there and were very bland and almost unfriendly. None of our group would return......definitely not worth the money.

Really enjoyed our meal here. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is great. A good range and choice. Quality is very good. Couldn’t fault it. Definitely worth a visit if you are holidaying around Keswick or Bassenthwaite.

Service lovely.
Came away disappointed - food not what we were expecting at all. The fish pie was bland and runny. I used a spoon to eat half of it.

I'm sorry you didn't like the food but I don't think you eat in our rosetted Coach House restaurant where we definitely don't serve fish pie!
