We visited The Carib House in August with our children and some friends, 9 of us in total.. The villa is off the beaten track and is wonderfully tranquil. It also has all the mod cons and comforts that you could wish for, including a daily maid service (which made us all very lazy!), and a brilliant outdoor dining area and barbecue. Our hosts could not do enough for us, ensuring we had access to all the best things that Antigua has to offer. They also arranged a taxi to pick us up at the airport (better to hire a car locally) and stocked the fridge with essentials, which, after a long flight, was a Godsend. The villa is super spacious and very comfortable, cleverly designed for the climate there, with plenty of aircon and mosquito grills (mosi spray at night is a must!), it also has lots of lovely seating areas so we never felt we were in each other's way,.
Antigua has the best beaches in the world (it felt like that to us anyway) and in August at least, many of those beaches were deserted or had just a handful of people. The water is warm and our kids spent hours in the sea, swimming or doing water sports. We watched the spectacular sunsets every evening and got some great photos which will always remind us of this wonderful island. We visited a number of very good restuarants, and one of the things we loved about Antigua was the people, they are so friendly and relaxed and they just love to kick back and have a good time, so the atmosphere at all of the bars and restaurants was so much fun,
I'd definitely recommend Shirley Heights as a good place to go on Sunday evenings, a huge BBQ on the top of a mountain (the views took our breath away) and live bands playing through the evening. We also did a trip to the rainforest to go on the zip wire which is well worth doing, our (various aged) kids loved it. We had so many wonderful experiences staying in Antigua that I can't list them all here, it was an unforgettable holiday for all of us.
Antigua is one of the gems of the Caribbean. Golden beaches, friendly people and great restaurants to. The Carib house is situated in one of the best parts of the island near to Falmouth harbour and Nelsons dockyard. It's an oasis that will always be remembered by all the family as one of our greatest holidays. The villa has privacy, authenticity and a breathtaking view. I would recommend renting a car to see some of the other beaches around the Island which you should not miss out, but otherwise you have everything you need at home. It was wonderful having a maid every morning and definitely helped with the kids. We stayed 12 days and would have stayed longer as we never got bored or ran out of things to do. One day we hosted a party in the house with 30+ people and it was fantastic because of the layout and amenities. Without a doubt we were will return as all of us were blown away with the holiday and talk about going back.
The Carib House is a beautiful getaway place for a family of three generations. We made full use of the spacious accommodation, including the airy hillside cottage. Never before in twenty years of island holidaying have we found a house with a verandah table that seats ten, and with comfortable chairs all over.
Our only quibble was that the road is pretty bad, from the pothole point of view, the best beaches at least a half hour away, and snorke lets shouldn't have high hopes on Antigua. But that's not The Carib House's fault and there's plenty else to do, like swing in the hammock in the gazebo, watching the frigate birds soaring over the blue water, or sunning on one of the 365 beaches!
a beautiful built and designed property. Great owners who are on hand and put a tremendous amount of thought and time in to making sure everyone is well looked after. Quiet, peaceful and everything you could need has been thought through.

We travelled with all our kids ages ranging 14 to 22 years and various friends of theirs. The house is spacious enough to still have peace and quiet when you want but all the facilities kept everyone entertained. Jonny and Lou looked after our every need and told us where and where not to go. We loved having so many beaches to choose from and there are some great restaurants around too. All in all a huge success!
