My family stayed here for a week. We found the apartment very spacious a lot better than we have had in other resort’s. We had to decent size bedrooms and a nice area to sit and eat or relax and watch television. There was a microwave with a grill in the kitchen area also you had a hob no oven we didn’t use it but there was also a dish washer. A great place to stay.

Arrived & check in was painless, deposit taken, bedding handed over & the holiday could start! We were allocated room C12 (sleeps 6, 1x double, 1x bunk bed room & pull out double in lounge) only the two of us so we had loads of space. Kitchen is small (4rings, microwave, dishwasher & fridge with small freezer compartment) but adequate if cooking a chilli or some pasta but don't expect to go & cook 5* cuisine! Nice clean bathroom and toilet but as per all French apartments toilet paper is the bare minimum (so pack a roll in your case!) water was always lovely & hot but probably our biggest bug bare was no place to clip the shower head so you have to hold it which often meant our bathroom ended up looking like a water fun park.
Staff we met were all very pleasant, speak basic English, so if you speak a little French you'll be fine.
We paid €20 for the wifi for the week & connection was fine in the apartment.
Location is great 20seconds from lifts (on skis) & a 5-10mins walk from the town.
Val Cenis is a lovely little resort, the slopes are great for beginners and fun for the intermediates, really well groomed and in most cases well signed.
It has a nice small selection of restaurants mostly traditional but a really nice pizza place, a few bars & all really reasonably priced. If cheese and meats are your thing you'll be in heaven every other shop is a fromagerie! There are a few ski shops all pricey but nice for a look around. We hired our skis from sport2000 (just near the lifts) which I highly recommend, we were really well looked after (& the guy looks like side show bob from the Simpsons - legend). There's a decent supermarket (Sherpa) 5mins walk away & an amazing boulangerie - trust me & try the chocolate eclairs they are to die for.
All in all we had a great week, clean, basic accommodation in a great location.

January 2014, week 1.
Résidence Privilege Resorts Les Valmonts, Lanslebourg-Mont-Cenis, Rhône-Alps, France Apartment 26B.

I am absolutely not the critical person, having done lots of outdoor camping and basic holidays, but in this case (also now having little children) I felt it was my duty to inform and warn fellow ski enthusiasts and fanatics about this accommodation and ski area.

Booked App for 6 pers, but even for 2 adults+2 small kids by far too small.
Room with bunk bed, bedroom w doubles bed (midget sized), living room bench/bed when in use, you cannot cross the apartment due to hitting the table&6chairs.
Hairs in bed and Clingfilm wrapped sheets also.
Carpeting hold dirt from years, and vacuum cleaner is not powerful enough to pick up a piece of paper.

Bathroom dirty on arrival and basically looks like a butcher shop where pigs are bleed out.
Faeces of previous occupants in toilet brush.
Only shower no bath. High toilet, seat doesn't stay up.
Simple wash sink no storage/shelve.
No clossets/shelves to store clothes.
Too little storeage and shelves in all rooms. We needed to live out of our travel bag.
Cutlery and steak knives stored in TV stationary?! at height of a walking 1 year old baby. (EXTREMELY DANGEROUS) Room has TV but you will need to pay for the remote control to operate it.
No WiFi in room and in common area very poor bandwidth.
Ski basement locker not big enough to fit skis and shoes for 6 persons, and not even 4. Prohibited to take ski shoes up to the apartment.
Stairs leading up from outdoor Parking to apartment (10m elevation, full of icy snow slippery and dangerous) No fire detectors in rooms.

There is clearly no maintenance and care for the rooms, building and surrounds or the wellcare of the paying tourist.
Service and social behavior poor.
Most dont understand a language other than French, let allone speaking anything else.

Our family booked through a private owned rental organisation the app 35G for 8 pers in the same accommodation Les Valmonts.
This one was VERY NICE, but still too small for 8!!!

Even for the (upfront seemingly) lower-end pricing absolutely not worth it. Go to Austria and you'll be beter off.

Waiting line at office tourism due to only 2 desks. On arrival day to get ski passes is hell.
All ski passes need photo. So it is not possible to get 1 pass and circulate with your partner, so one skis and one stays with kids. (they do check at ski lift!) Therefore we needed to buy each day a new pass, bringing additional cost.
Shadow side of mountain, cold, especially for kids at the ski school.
Bad connection from neighbouring village pists (kilometres long green walking paths back to Lanslebourg. (WAX YOUR SKIS EXTREMELY WELL!!!!!!) The skiing area to the right, Termignon was small but had quite fun slopes and a nice restaurant on the top.
Lift did stall a lot, sometimes for more than 5 minutes.
Kids ski schooling, only in French, maybe a little English, but no German or Dutch. (I need to shout out that Teachers were very friendly and patient! Top Notch!) Plus they have a children day care for babies and kids that do not ski full days, parents can go out once by themselves.
Nearest Supermarket not in village but 7km away.

This is my 2nd bad experience in France, after similar experience in Valfrejus.
I will never ever again go to France for my skiing holiday.
I rather pay tripple and go elsewhere.

Our 4th visit to these apartments, but this time our holiday was spoilt by a large group staying in the same block as us. On the Saturday night and the Sunday night the played extremely loud thumping music accompanied by lots of cheering and shouting plus banging. This went on until at least 4am each night. We complained to reception on the Monday and had a few nights peace, however our last night was mared again by a repeat performance - an absolute nightmare. This is such a shame as every other visit has been great with no problems at all.

Room Tip: No choice given apart from to state chalet to sleep number of people

Reviewed 13 January 2009

We stayed here in Jan 2009 and chose Les Valmonts because of the positive reviews it has previously received. Unfortunately, as it turns out, the apartments are under new management this season and we were very disappointed with our accommodation.

Our biggest concern was with the management (extremely rude and unpleasant) and the ridiculous check-in/out procedure. Check-in is not until 5pm. It then took us 2 hours to get to the front of the queue. You have to leave a deposit of 300 euros and upon arrival are presented with an inventory of over 150 items in your apartment (cutlery, crockery etc) which you are meant to check to see if anything is missing. If anything is missing and you do not report it at once, you are liable for the cost of replacement.

The charge for a lost key is an extortionate 140 euros.

The apartments, whilst clean, are very basic, a bit scruffy and very tiny. 2 of us really struggled for space in a 4 person apartment. There is no kettle so we had to boil water in a pan. Hot water was often lacking, so if we wanted a hot bath it had to be in 'off peak' hours.

Despite the late check-in time, check-out is at 10am. Our polite request for a late check-out was flatly refused by the very rude reception staff.
