“Wedding”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 January 2012

We were disappointed in the treatment of ourselves and guests on our wedding day. I arrived to find blue chaircovers on the seats when my colour scheme was pink. They spoke to be quite rudely. They interrupted our photogrpahy session too many times. Food was outstanding but customer service was awful! They are not interested in you but only about getting your money and after they get that then they couldn't care less. So many things to mention. Night staff should get jobs in the police as they seemed to spen most of their time questioning guests about ordering soft drinks as though they had brought drink in. Rude and was like a boarding school with a detective on the door.

My husband and I booked one night for our anniversary at Corick House as we had stayed here about four years ago and really enjoyed the cuisine and our stay and always intended returning. The hotel is situated in a lovely part of the Clogher Valley with beautiful views The staff were really nice and attentive, the breakfast next morning was good. The downside to our stay was the evening meal which we felt did not allow for much choice. The menu consisted of a choice of four meals, one serving salmon, one vegetarian, one duck and the last one Champ which meant there was no beef or chicken to choose from which is what we really would have preferred. The sweet which we chose was Corick House trifle which consisted of frozen blackcurrants and blackberries which had soaked onto a sparse bit of sponge, custard and little cream on top, no jelly at all, served in a small wine glass, which was not nice and a big disappointment . For the main part of the meal I had ordered duck with vegetable and potato, again very disappointing as the accompanying vegetable appeared to be red shredded cabbage or beetroot drenched in a sweet syrupy liquid, wasn't really sure what it was but it was too sweet and really did not compliment the duck. My husband chose the Champ with Cumberland sausage accompanied by vegetables which turned out to be carrots which were also too sweet being sauteed in honey and unpalatable something that carrots do not really need as they are by nature sweet enough. As well as this the toiletries in the bathroom were very limited as there was no proper soap, only liquid in a bottle, neither was there shampoo. The tea bags on the tray in the room were Tetley which are really low grade tea bags and are flavourless. There was no bottled water provided either. As mentioned by someone else the pillows were very hard too, so it is not surprising that we were very disappointed this time on our second visit. We would hesitate to return as we did not feel we got value for our money.

We had our wedding in Corick House on Thursday 10th November and we can honestly say it was all they advised and more than we could have asked for. The hotel location is perfect for a wedding or just a relaxing holiday. The service was 100% and all the staff went out of their way for us and our guests. The food was excellent, hot and plentiful. So many of our guests have been in touch with us and have all commented on the excellent location and service from the hotel. All we can say is this hotel is worth it and thanks to them for such a great day!!

I don't usually write reviews however I feel this review needs to be written for brides to be!! when we were booking our wedding the first thing we did was to search the internet for reviews of this hotel. At that stage, unfortunately there were a few less than reassuring reviews which to be honest left us feeling a little uncertain. Thankfully we took the risk, ignored those negative reviews and booked our wedding for Feb 2011.

Corick House catered for 230 guests for our meal with another 60+eve. The feedback was great from our guests. Our meal was beautiful, hot, v tasty and with seconds offered if wanted. Presentation of food was great, served with professionalism in a timely manner by friendly and helpful staff!! A very big thanks to Avril for arranging things so beautifully, the room was really lovely and she, together with her team worked hard to ensure all was to our satisfaction. THANKS.

Our speeches went smoothly because of the excellent toastmaster who was just lovely! The staff worked very hard to ensure all ran smoothly on the day (and were more than accommodating when we ran 30mins late with the meal!!). Gardens were fabulous, even in feb- our photos are great! Stunning backdrop. The interior of hotel lends itself well for photos too.

I know everyone thinks the venue they chose for their wedding is the 'best', but almost a year on.. we are very thankful we chose Corick House! It exceeded our expectations and our day went perfectly with no hiccups. I personally feel it offers good value for money re:wedding meal menu! We hope to visit again very soon.

many thanks to the staff, Mrs Clarke

My friend and I recently stayed for a one night midweek break at this fabulous hotel. I have rarely stayed anywhere where all the staff were so pleasant and helpful (usually there are a few exceptions)! The setting is perfect: a fabulous blend of character and modern renovation - and we especially enjoyed the peace and quiet of the rural setting. Our dinner and breakfast were delicious. We also found our room to be spacious, spotless and tastefully decorated (modern wing). My only criticisms are (as noted by a previous reviewer) that the pillows supplied are incredibly hard. Fortunately, I always bring my own if I can but my friend's sleep was definitely less comfortable as a result. There is also an odd night light in the ceiling which can be annoying for those who (like myself) prefer a dark room for sleeping. However these are fairly minor criticisms and would not deter me from returning (with pillow and eye mask!)
