I had the another worst traveling experience with the Sri lankan airline few weeks and few days ago and wanted to share them with those who are considering of flying with them.
having worst experiences on same air line before, i still thought that this is our national carrier and should fly with them to contributes of it's success and believing that things will get better every day compare worst olden days.
but things remains same. i have taken UL102 Morning flight to Colombo and the breakfast which was served were far worst and poor than a cafeteria in any minimum standards organization. it was served in take away box with a kids portion of puff pastry, Kotmale set yogurt and a 180ml Juice packet.
shame to say that this breakfast meal is worth maximum about 50 Sri lankan Rupees, which is 1/3 of a single US Dollar.
it's shame to see the price still kept printed on the package. see the photos below. just looks like brought from Supermarket and lorded to be served.
those days meals at Srilankan or Air Lanka was outstanding and never know when this era be back in our national carrier.
further on board, we never see now a days friendly and smiling crew same as olden days. its like natural death. need lots to be trained and improved.
on rerun flight i had so many ad-normal experiences from the time of check in at counter.
it was another crowded and busy afternoon. same as others i was also waited and in line till my turn come. The counter person called Anthony was doing a group check in and took so long to completed. how ever when many awaits it was sad to witness and experience that a ground handling girl comes with a Porter (Porter No 144) and jump over the line and prioritized to check in a very much drunken passenger to UK flight.
perhaps may be a last minute passenger. we never know. but being a Sri lankan and knowing as a country of politeness across the globe, she MUST tell at least the first waiting person in the line and apologized for the unexpected priority given. but she and counter person who does check in never go ever any extra mile, of courtesy where some of passengers who were lined to fly India was loose to make some noise of frustration.
with all of never ending and meeting even minimum standards, i believed the decision makers at air line, please take correct measures at least now and don't let the image of country goes worst day after another.
back on returned flight soon after i get in and well before take of fr taxi, i have asked for glass of water to consume my tables from crew member - Thihan and he just said later.. later... and later.
it took at least another 20 minutes plus to have a glass of water even after take off.
further, i have had keep reminded at least twice just to have beer and it was late to served.
it just like its a burden when a passenger ask for service.
instead of delivering the passenger request fasted possible, they were keen in chit chating in cabin area and upon finishing their discussions of what ever funny happenings, starts to serve.
this is very wrong. every one flying after purchasing a ticket at any given fare and you must lead them to learn how to respect their clientele.
i believe that this is one of the best route for sri lankan and complete with many other competitive air lines.
this may lead to loose many more passengers and you are volunteer to encourage us of choosing another air line.
