I was scheduled to travel to from LGA to ORD on 11/16 for business. The day before, six inches of snow had been dumped on New York and I had a feeling that there would be an issue with my flight as hundreds of flights were being canceled.
After arriving at the airport I received a notification to let me know that my flight had been delayed by four hours. Given that lots of flights were being delayed, I figured I didn't want to spend hours at the airport and could reschedule my meetings.
I called Spirit and spoke with their friendly team. Yes, they are based overseas, but they speak great English and guess what? That offshore team helps them offer lower ticket prices because their overheads are less!
The agent I spoke with was extremely apologetic for the inconvenience and rebooked me to a flight later this month without any change fees or charges for the difference in ticket prices. In fact, I actually received a credit because the ticket price was less.
This was to be my third round trip with Spirit in two months and they continue to prove that they are responsive and if you pay attention to their website terms, you'll have a smooth experience.
