“No Bargain”
Review of Spirit Airlines

Reviewed 6 April 2018

We booked flights to Saint Thomas for our 25th anniversary, but Hurricane Irma wiped out the resort. We had to reschedule our accommodations in Fort Lauderdale. In order not to lose everything we had spent on our flights, the booking company agreed to arrange us other flights. We ended up on Spirit Airlines for our return trip from Fort Lauderdale to Atlanta. We even bought luggage to meet the size requirements for Spirit Airlines. When we arrived at the airport, we had to wait forever to get to the counter. They told us we would have to pay extra for our small bag. We also had to pay extra for our regular size bag because we did not pay online. Be sure to read the fine print. This airline is no bargain. We would have come out better by just booking with another airline.

No Frills, but great price. Inexpensive way to get from BWI to RSW and return. Carry on a small personal item and put it under yous seat. There was two of us and we always get great seats. Always together and doesn't cost us when randomly selected. Overall a great experience! I just wish the points were better like Southwest. Spirit point expire quickly.

My hubbie booked it and was not aware of extra charges for luggage. 1 carry-on $25 2 checked in bags $50 ea..EACH WAY!! So $250 later. Only 40lb/bag. Most airlines are 50lbs We got 'lucky'...lol and got to fly on brand new equip. on the way home. Standard on these planes is, the seat DON'T recline AT ALL. As well the 'tray' was EXTREMELY SMALL! As well the 'pouch' below no longer exists. There is only 2 thin pieces of elastic criss-crossed to hold plane info and barf bag. WE WILL NEVER FLY SPIRIT AGAIN!!! No in-flight entertainment avail. at all. If you want any over-priced food or drink,, you better have a credit card.

Spirit Airlines is no scam; you get what you pay for. This was my first time flying Spirit, and to be honest, I expected much worse for how much I payed ($125 round trip!) First off, if you are flying Spirit, do not plan on packing much because the baggage fees end up costing about as much as your ticket. The fee for a carry-on is already $26, and most people can not fit everything into a carry on bag. So, checked bags are $40, and if they weigh more than 40 ibs, you end up paying even more. Round trip, our family's bags cost $224 (crazy expensive). Aside from that, everything else on Spirit is pretty cheap but serviceable. The plane we flew was very new and clean as they have one of the youngest fleets in the world, but the seats were like cardboard and the legroom was extremely small. However, the flight attendants and other staff are very welcoming and act just like any other airline. Also, nothing on Spirit is free (even water). YOU MUST PAY FOR EVERYTHING ON SPIRIT EXPECT FOR GOING TO THE BATHROOM!!! Ends up costing around 40 if you get snacks and other things. Overall, Spirit Airlines was a basic and average experience, but would fly again for the exceptionally low prices.

We decided to try Spirit because of the price. Didn't turn out so well. By the time we paid for our luggage the price was no less then any other carrier. The seats are so close to the ones in front and they don't recline, and you are charged for pretty much everything. The flight attendants were great and very funny. The only thing worth laughing about.
