Really average and only just better than Ryanair. The in flight food for this 2hr flight was really horrible. Not to be recommend.

Flew Sydney Shanghai return economy and impressed with general quality all round. Nice modern aircraft. Same std as Qantas, Air New Zealand et al (same stuff, different colour seats).

Departure in time, arrival in time, very good service on board, even in english, with a surprise for north americans (canadians) .... a meal served on a 2 hour flight. What a service! No entertainment on board.

That was one of the worst flight I had.Stewards and hostesses(except one) seem very unhappy to be there so you could feel the atmosphere.The food was fake,no taste or diversity.
If you where asking some just a glass of water...you felt guilty.
Plus it took a very long time to refuel in Shangai ( may be not their fault )

I recently had the opportunity to fly business class on China Eastern Airlines. I highly recommend business over coach when flying 20 hours. As we arrived at LAX you are greeted by VIP customer service counter, our bags were checked in quickly and we were escorted to their business class lounge which offered a lot of room. The food selection was quite small for LAX. Once we arrived on the plane, the flight attendants greeted us promptly with cocktails and refreshments. In air, they took our dinner order quickly and understood the orders for passengers with ease. The alcoholic beverages were limited to 3 wines and a few spirits, very surprising for business class. This was the selection on both flights LAX to Bangkok and departing from Shanghai to LAX. Other than that, I would recommend business class flying with China Eastern.
