“Carry on bag issues”
Review of American Airlines

Reviewed 16 January 2023

How is it the gate agents in Philadelphia had no problem with my carry on but the miserable gate agents in Charleston did? Many people got on the plane with carry ons that were not required to fit in the sizer. Mine fit, it was snug but it still fit. I did not see them asking anyone else to use the sizer. All.i ask is for consistency.

2 of my flights were canceled, which made me miss my last connecting flight with a different airline. I had to rebook my last flight which cost me $350 out of my own pocket. I asked if American Airlines could give me a food voucher and they said no. I will never fly with them again and I will make sure others will hear my story.

Excellent service on flight from DFW to PDX on Thursday January 14. There was one attendant in particular who stood out - his first or last name is Hamilton. I can’t get him out of my mind - so attractive. Anyway - single guy here and very interested…

Everyone I know has felt with the most ridiculous problems while flying with American Airlines. The newest is American Airlines told my mom what kind of cat carrier she needed to travel with then when she showed up to the airport they tried to turn her away because it wasn’t the right material. I called American Airlines customer service because I was so upset and even they said there is no requirement regarding the material. But at LAX the American Airlines worked wouldn’t budge.
Other stories have to do with destroyed baggage and just screwed over flight credit.
Bottom line, just fly with Delta or Alaska because they’re actually reliable, helpful, and not completely insane.

I am giving the review based on our flight from DFW to SJO on January 4 (flight #AA2855). Our flight was supposed to depart Dallas at 5:09 pm and didn’t end up leaving until after 10:00pm. Delays are understandable, the lack of communication and complete disrespect from the staff is unacceptable. We were given multiple excuses as to why we were delayed: two passengers got sick and had to wait an hour for a clean up crew, then there were delays getting those passengers luggage off the plane, finally there where mechanical problems. We sat on the plane for close to four hours with inconsistent and infrequent communication from any of the staff. We were receiving text/email updates regarding the delay before receiving anything from the crew. We sat and watched first class continue to receive service but couldn’t even get a glass of water in economy. Obviously people were aggravated and stressed out. I thought the role of the flight attendants was supposed to be to diffuse bad situations but they did the exact opposite. Particularly one flight attendant in particular, who yelled at multiple passengers for just asking questions. Dismissing them and saying “like I’ve said multiple times, we know as much as you.” One passenger even started to have a panic attack and she yelled at her to just “get off the plane.” I will never, ever book with AA again based solely on the horrible customer service of the crew.
