First flight I have been on in forever that they supplied blankets and I didn't almost freeze to death. Of course everyone was still squished together like sardines but the attendants were great and actually let you stand up for awhile as long as you stayed out of the way. Carry-ons were free which I haven't experienced for awhile either. All in all I had a great experience other than being smushed. I there was a little more legroom I would have given it 5 starts.

Flew back in Business Class on the 777-200 from RIO. While the business class wasn't as comfortable as the 777-300 to SAO, the service was very good. Also, unlike the 300 where all seats face forward, the 200 alternates with front facing and back facing seats. The filet was cooked perfectly, selection of wines very nice and the service was attentive.

This particuliar flight was late in the evening ~5 pm and wasn't full at all. In fact, after broarding, people were allowed to sit anywhere except first class. There was plenty of space and many passengers had whole rows to themselves. There was an earlier flight (~4 pm) and I think most people chose that flight to get back at little earlier but if you waited for this flight you might get rewarded with less than full flight.. The bad: it took awhile to get the departing gate assignment at the Cancun airport. Then the gate was assigned next to another departing flight at the same time so there was a mob of people trying to cross to their boarding gate. Plus competing announcements. At DFW, once arrived in U.S., there is no way to get past Customs and stay within the "secure" area to take the internal SkyLink to get to another terminal. You have to exit. If you have a connecting flight or, in my case, your car is parked at another terminal, you have to take the terminal shuttle (TerminalLink) which takes time.

American’s “Basic Economy Fare” purchased from discount travel sites are intended to Make You Pay More and intended to humiliate you for buying this ticket. You are assigned Group 9 for boarding. They are serious about No Carry On bags allowed.They make several announcements that If you are in Group9 boarding you board last, are only allowed a small computer bag to purse. That’s it. Must only put it under your seat.To mandatory check it at gate cost double. No advanced seat, no overhead, no standard sized bag, no respect. I felt like was going to be forced to sit in the back and made to use a Group9 only toilet and water fountain;.

LAX is the perfect place to leave for Kona. The flight isn’t too long and it’s really nice to fly directly into Kona! Our particular plane had individual screens in the back of the head rest with pretty up to date movies and classics which made the flight go even faster! The only thing was the AC in our section of the flight seemed to be off for most of the flight. It wasn’t too hot but definitely uncomfortable
