Review of Air India

I have mixed feeling about Air India. I took 5 Air India Flights in the last 2 weeks and following are my feedback:

1. Singapore-Mumbai on 23rd December 2024 - AI 2108

The flight was on time/ boarding was smooth and everything was ok till t we boarded.

The fumigation was on and the safety demonstration was on while the cabin was fogged out. and people really couldnt see the demonstration clearly..

They were using a Vistara Flight and the crews looked fairly confused. There was a family sitting next to my seat and the one of the Crews were continuously chatting with them ( seemed like the passenger worked with some airline). It got to the extend of them serving him beverages at the Gally.

The flight was fairly turbulent and they had a baby travelling with them. Crew was least bothered to enforce seat belt/not letting the baby sit in the emergency row. The seat belt sign was on and one of them had made the baby stand on the floor and playing and the crew did not bother to intervene.

Another problem with this flight is that, they dont use aerobridge in Mumbai and one needs to spend 15 minutes to reach the arrival hall by bus one the plane is landed.

2. Mumbai - Delhi
3. Delhi-Amritsar
4. Amritsar-Delhi
5. Delhi- Singapore

All these flights were satisfactory and except the 3rd flight the rest were Air Vistara. One thing I noticed is the Vistara Crew are fairly confused and disjoint , even during the safety announcement.

I am hoping Air India will make a note of this and will make the transition from Vistara to Air India smoother.

Absolutely aTROCIOUS airline, do not fly with them. Our flight was three hours late leaving Heathrow purely because the staff were absolutely useless on the ground, no sense of urgency to get us in the air. Service on board was adequate but dear Lord when we got to Mumbai, they couldn’t run a p*ss up in a brewery if their lives depended on it. Our flight was late for the connecting flight to Bangkok by maybe 30 minutes, there were about 20 people in total from our flight on the transfer but instead of holding it, they let it fly out. No one was there to meet us at the plane to try and help us make the flight, no one knew what was going on when we got to the transfer desk and to say they were unhelpful would be the understatement of the century. We were stuck in Mumbai for 24 hours in total and they didn’t even think to bring us water or food for the first 8 hours - and we only got that because we asked and asked and asked. Complete lack of information, complete lack of care, they took our passports from us and didn’t let us know what was happening with them. No courtesy, no consideration, zero hospitality and the most stressful experience I’ve ever had flying. We were treated like we were a complete inconvenience, the staff were rude and completely unaccountable, if you have to fly through India, do yourself a basic favour and choose ANY other airline that Air India. They are the absolute bottom of the barrel, I’d take Ryanair over them a hundred times a day. Worst airline EVER.

Yes you may get cheap ticket but with that you also get cheap service. My return flight seats were not booked together and had to pay to be seated together. The tickets were done 10 months in advance. This is as good as a low cost airline!! This is not the same airline it used to be and has joined the herd of other airlines that is trying to make money from all possible means. I thought it will differentiate itself but sadly doesn’t seem so.

I had a confirmed seat for my 5 months old daughter with the mother, but at the check-in counter they said the airline changed the plane and there is no infant seat available. I showed them the confirmed seat number in my ticket. Then the duty manager rudely argued with me and said the airline did what it did and he cannot do anything. Thankfully the new recruit and another manager tried to help us with the seat for the infant. How come AIR INDIA be so unprofessional and unorganised with their operations. They don't seem to care for the passengers. This particular duty manager was very unprofessional and incompetent to do his job. They should replace him immediately or should traine him well to handle a situation and how to talk to a passenger in a professional manner.
I really appreciate the help from another duty manager 'Chris' and the new recruit.
I am very disappointed in the operational abilities of Air India.

I flew from Vancouver to Delhi via Air India and had a terrible experience. I've decided never to take Air India again. The price is the same as other Star Alliance while the experience is worse. Almost everything was broken, including the seats, remote, toilet, and food is bad.
