Review of Air China

Flight was good. Seats were lie-flat beds. Food were quite good too. FAs were attentive and friendly.

I am a super frequent user of MFM-FRA via PEK or PVG. Many would simply know that CA provides many cheap options at least. Considering the price, it's usually worth a deal if you know the pros and cons of each route as well as the tricky Chinese airports where many CA passengers would stop by.

CA965 from PEK to FRA is usually nice. I never had a 'horrible' experience at least.

1. In-flight meals are likely to be much better than expected.
2. Most important, it's really a night flight. Passengers usually are nice, quiet and behave well... Many simply sleep, and the flight tends to be quiet enough.
3. I've experienced some delays, but anyway, the arrival time is very early in the morning. PEK at night tends to be more crowded than expected. If you depart from PEK, better to get to the airport early enough. Also, if you transfer at PEK, you might need more time for immigration even for transfer. Better to doublecheck visa requirements. Stopping by China is tricky and different from many other countries. (Hmm.. similar situation in the US when you happen to stop by that country.)
4. I have experienced a bit of suitcase damage during this flight. You might also want to be prepared for that.
5. Actually, seats are not bad.
6. More restrictions on mobile device usage when you are using Chinese airlines. Anyway, CA965 is eventually a night flight, and sleeping rather than using electronic devices during the flight is a good strategy.

You get what you pay for in this life Seats are very close together and cramped.
Airbus 330 was very old and worn and not too clean

Meals were very poor quality and very limited selection.Otherwise ok in terms of a relatively cheap flight.

The flight was very inexpensive but overall not great in terms of quality. The lavatories were rather dirty on all four flights I took in January. The entertainment systems were extremely outdated, old and barely working in some cases with a very poor selection of movies, TV, music, etc. Mobile phones are not allowed even in flight mode which made the journey a nightmare since I had forgotten my Kindle! The legroom was okay, but I didn't find the seats very comfortable and could barely sleep at all. The food was average, but it lacked diversity - three out of four meals in my two flights from Sydney to London were rice with meat (no vegetarian options unless specified previously). The flight attendents were generally nice and responsive; however, some of them spoke very bad English and communication was a bit difficult. Nevertheless, I did not encounter any major problems and considering the relatively low price of the flights, it was a good value for the money.

I'll keep this short but in essence, Flight Centre had told Air china we had a wheelchair and Melbourne did not know about it, LHR staff did not know about it and were quite rude and when we landed back in Melbourne after 42 hours (9.5 in Beijing) we had to wait a further 30 mins at least ON THE PLANE because they had not brought the special chair to the gate of the plane.
