Absolutely disgusting treatment of passengers. Our party of 4 arrived at airport 3 hrs early to check in for our short flight. We were told there was a "situation" upon check in - they had overbooked the flight (and admitted they had on every flight that week) and we were selected to be booted off the flight. Our party of four included one handicapped passenger and another 90 year old mobility limited gentleman. Agent told us she was sorry but we were the only passengers without a connection so some manager just selected our party to bump. I explained they MUST pick someone else as we had handicapped passenger and a very senior passenger. AL never asked any passengers waiting if they would voluntarily opt for a later flight (per Irish law).
AL also said that we should have declared the handicapped status upon booking the flight - why would we ever do that if the passengers brought their own walkers and we were not asking for assistance or special accomodation. AL refused to consider other passengers and booked us on another flight five hours later. I submitted a request for compensation (which the desk agent assured us we would receive) over a week ago and received a "thank you, we will be in touch shortly". Here we are 7 days later and we have had zero contact from AL. Also important to note there is NO option to call on their website.

Stuff happens with airlines. Flights get canceled for instance. It's about how the airline responds afterwards that matters.

Well, flight got cancelled from from Venice to Philly with a connection in Dublin. Got rebooked on a flight the next day with 2 connections. Problem is, it didn't get rebooked correctly, and no one on the customer service could help. One person said to just relax and go with the flow. As a result, had to then get rebooked again for a flight for 2 days after that. Made it to the desk to collect boarding passes and an absolute curmudgeon of a human being refused to get boarding passes. Had to wait for another rep to arrive at a different desk to help. At least the flights went according to plan this time

Aer Lingus flights are cheap and so are their people. If you wanna risk it and save a buck, go for it. If you wanna put yourself in a better position then choose just about any other airline for international Travel. Does this mean that things wont go according to plan? No of course not. But if they don't, then be prepared to absolutely hate your life for the duration of the time it takes to figure out whatever issue is going on.

Returning to Dublin from San Francisco 29th July 2024.

On plane 4.5 Hours on ground then told flight was cancelled. Then 1.5 hours in baggage reclaim (Even though crew members baggge came around instantly). Then 1.5 hours told to wait in queue for hotel, food etc.

At 1.30am we were told no hotel, transportation, food could be provided and to sort ourselves out !!!!

I ask to spek to a member of staff from Aer Lingus to be told Aer Lingus staff do not work at the airport and no one could help.

We rang Aer Lingus customer services in Dublin from the queue and they could not help and just told up to see the counter staff at the airport.

No food or water for 7.5 hours and no help, absolutely ridculous service from Aer Lingus.

Got home 26 hours later.

This happened before with United Airlines who had us all sorted in 30 minutes.

Would not reccommend Aer Lingus awful service.

My child had his passport stolen in the Dublin airport, so Aer Lingus would not let my son board of course, which I understand, and I of course stayed back in Ireland with him. We had to scramble to get to the US embassy the next day and this added a day of expenses to our trip. Of the expenses, Aer Lingus was the largest and they seem to take immense pleasure in charging us an additional $170.00 (mom and son)each for new flights, plus what we already paid for the original tickets. They could have cared less about us as people and they were cold and rude to my family. I had travel insurance but they continue to not honor it...they really are not there for you, be wary.
