Well done Olympic Air

Olympic offers flights from Athens to Ioannina twice a day and this is the quickest way to complete the trip (takes less than an hour, compared to the 6 hours of the intercity bus). They usually use a Bombardier dash 8 plane for the route. This is smaller and somewhat noisier than the airbus fleet used by their mother company (aegean airlines). That said, the plane is clean and the seats not too bad. Refreshments and a light snack are offered, which is a nice touch for such a short flight. Staff always very helpfull and friendly. This time there was a toddler in the flight, and the crew went the extra mile in trying to keep her entertained. The fare is the only issue as it varies wildly. Sometimes the price hikes at 120 euro or more one way which is quite expensive for a short domestic flight. As long as the ticket is priced around 50 euro or so, however, it is very good value for money and competes directly with the price of the -much longer- bus trip.

A very comfortable experience, everything was on time, even though the flight is very short there were beverages and coffee arranged. The time of arrival gives you the opportunity to "seize" the day. They also have very comfortably arranged return flights, late in the afternoon. The efficiency is like an international flight.

Everything was fine. The service, in particular, is invariably excellent in all Olympic/Aegean flights.The food, which is rarely offered free at most other airlines, was decent. I asked for a second (free) bottle of wine and it was served to me immediately. The hostesses were very genuinely polite and always smiling.
