A family of four (mom, dad and two kids aged 13 and 10) did an 8 day over Spring Break. What a GREAT !!!! vacation. This was only our second family cruise, the first was nine years ago on Disney when our kids were really young. We've always been an all-inclusive resort family and decided to try something new. We sure were not disappointed!! We were in room 9275, which was great for the four of us. It was a little cramped at time but definitely not an issue, especially because we had a balcony. We did a few excursions on the port days, but what I liked the best was that everyone was able to find something they enjoyed. We, mom and dad, enjoyed relaxing and getting sun and both of our kids loved all of the activities designed for them. We never went to the casino and we're not big drinkers so I can't comment on the smoke or the alcohol. My wife and I would rather have cocktails for a lot less at a port. We'll definitely cruise again!!

My review is for the encounters and experiences we received on the Carnival Vista and their excursions. I hope my review helps someone going forward. CARNIVAL VISTA DELI-The lady from South Africa ignored me and others standing in line to ask my husband who was not in line, nor standing anywhere near the line,if he needed to order. I stood at the counter for over 20 minutes before she even acknowledged me. I couldn’t believe it. She didn’t acknowledge me until I responded with he is with me nor is he in line. Even other guest were shaking their heads at her. Chicken salad sandwich was tasty. The bacon wrap was too dry maybe if we had some sauce would have been better. FAHRENHEIT 555 Steak house/Carnival Vista-oleksander wasn’t very attentive. The availability of menu items changed depending on your race or maybe how he was feeling. There was a white couple who were seated next to us, who befriended us as soon as we sat down and informed us what we should try and how many entrees we could order. Well he informed us we could not add a lobster. The couple who informed us looked amazed at his response. After they left a black couple was seated and their choices were limited too. He attended to another couple behind us frequently. I asked him his name for this review. I paid for a Suite and extra for the Steak House to receive this type of service. I have not cruised since Covid, a lot has changed since then. The customer service has deteriorated. Food was delicious at the steak house. My steak and pork belly appetizer was seasoned. I am a frequent cruiser with Carnival and have never experienced this treatment. I will be checking other Cruiselines for the amount of money I spend. It was our Anniversary and we were never acknowledged due to a glitch in their online system. When we went to eat,we were informed we did not have 6pm dining reserved, thank goodness I had a picture of our confirmed reservation, well not so good because they could careless about their mistake, therefore we could not eat at the restaurant I reserved. 1st lady was rude and told us to go to open dining didn’t explain why or try to help. The next lady went beyond and I hate I didn’t get her name. She was exceptional and had the best customer service we experienced on the ship. She seated us at the best ocean view table in the dining room which made our experience much better she even explained for us to visit guest services to fix the problem so we could eat in the dining room going forward. The food choices for formal night were not appealing. We were so disappointed. The way they push the drinks is almost annoying. The next night we went to guest services to get our dining time fixed, we were sent back to the same restaurant for them to fix it. I went back and forth with the restaurant staff listening to them basically say suck it up and just wait for anytime dining for a seat to become available in another restaurant. Me with tears ALMOST in my eyes explained again to the man this is not acceptable nor fair (getting pissed) that I spent almost $4,000 on a Suite, priority everything included to be informed to suck it up when there are people seated without those accommodations. I explained this is not ok. I refused to leave without them making this right, which I have NEVER had to do in my 51 years. After he made a call we received a nice reserved table for two for the remaining of our cruise which I felt should have been done at first. ROOM SERVICE was only available few hours a day. We tried to order breakfast at 7am only pizza was available. We tried to order pizza between 9:30pm and 11pm on various nights, no room service available. JiIJI ASIAN KITCHEN-$24 pp. Food was good, Thai Tea was unsweetened and tasted Nothing like Thai Tea when she brought it out we thought it was chocolate milk. I ordered the sweet and sour shrimp with white rice. It was very sweet. The pork belly appetizer was tasty. Definitely not worth the extra charge to me. HALF MOON CAY, BAHAMAS is owned by Carnival…food served by Carnival was our only option to eat. They served bbq chicken breast, coleslaw that was dry and the potato salad had no taste. Simply Awful. The Brownie was moist and the apple crumble was good. I hated there were no other options to eat. Also, not alot of excursions worth buying either. We enjoyed the beautiful beach all day. Grand Turk Main Dining- Roger on Thursday night was very inattentive. It took him over 15 mins to refill our water. The entertainment in dining room was depressing but I understand you can’t please everyone. It was music from the 50’s-60’s. HUMMER EXCURSION IN GRAND TURK- Hummmers were very old. Pictures are very deceiving. One couple vehicle had problems starting and our hood came up while driving. We had to honk for the tourist guide to stop. We were all trailing him in our Hummers. We tunes into a station and could hear him narrating the island as we followed. The island is very poor and wasn’t a lot to see but it was nice to see the entire island. We were able to shop away from the port which was very cool. The prices were more expensive than the port which was rare from our past cruises. I am a shopper and if I like it I don’t care the cost but when I saw the Walmart bodiology lotions for $40 that sell for $10 in Walmart, I busted out laughing.

Carnival Vista is a midrange (Vista Class) ship. We took this ship from Port Canaveral in Florida. Boarding this ship was rather easy. Almost set up like an airport, where you drop off passengers and luggage then go park. This ship has a skyrider attraction (a bicycle ride on an above head track), has many food choices, including two sections for buffet. Had many shows including a IMAX theater and Family Fued game show. This ship has 3 pool areas two of which open to everyone and one for Havana Suite guests. Staff was friendly, rooms were always clean, food was delicious. Would recommend this ship to any families looking to getaway.

We've used nothing but Carnival, but this might just be the straw that breaks the camels back. This was by far the worst boat we've ever cruised on. Teeny, tiny smokey casino. I got sick and my fiance who generally stays to play craps wouldn't even go down to play craps. This boat was going into dry dock after our sailing. We had no idea about that, but the dealers in the casino told us it was because the ventilation was bad. Well that's an understatement. You could smell the smoke from the casino throughout the atrium. It was a disappointment for sure.

The carnival vista November 4th-10th This was not my first cruise. Room 6259 with balcony The staff was great. Always pleasant and professional. Before sailing, I downloaded the Carnival Hub app months prior. I never saw anything Vista specific. Just the typical cruise information. Most of what was on the Hub was umbrella and applied to most of their cruises. When were just days out, I called Carnival to make sure I was packing accordingly. The information I received was we were having 1 elegant night on the second night of the cruise. Of course there were 2 elegant nights and an all white party. Wow what a disappointment when my husband had only packed the 1 elegant suit and neither of us had a white outfit. The ship itself... let's just say thank goodness that was the last sailing from Galveston before updates/remodeling. The decor throughout the ship including the staterooms was, to put it politely outdated. The shower had horrible drainage. Maybe that's how all of Carnival ships are but standing in pooling water is not my idea of feeling clean. I pray I don't get athlete's foot 🙁 The pool area gave me the creeps. There were times when I thought I was going to get the plague from just walking past it. One of the pools had to be closed temporarily before we left Galveston so one of the staff could scoop something out of it. Yay! I can't forget to mention the God awful sewage smell in the middle of the ship on days 2 & 5. Completely unbearable. The biggest gripe I have is the elevator system. Taking the stairs may be an option for some but for elderly, those with disabilities, crutches, or walkers waiting 10 to 15 minutes for an elevator is actually unacceptable. The food was edible. Due to religious beliefs my husband and I don't eat pork or shellfish. I really didn't think this would be an issue. I was wrong yet again. Very minimal options especially at breakfast. There was nothing "fine" about the fine dining. Stale bread, under seasoned food with a wait longer than the elevator system. As for drinks what's included is water, juice at breakfast, coffee, and the lemon concentrate they call lemonade. Im sure that lemon concoction gave me a stomach ulcer. Never ever select open dining option with Carnival. The dining room was such a clusterf*@k. We used the carnival hub app for "easy" table reservations. Once we were notified that our wait was expected to be under 10 minutes, we still waited over 30 minutes and 45 minutes once seated to just get bread. The sad thing is we were trying to plan around the big crowds. As for activities, this was a very geriatric experience. My husband and I are in our early 40s and did not find many activities that peaked our interest. However, if you want to feed their casino machines in a small room full of smokers good luck! I can't forget about the cruise photographers. Not sure if they go to school to learn the 3 repeated poses of awkward, more awkward, and finally just plain weird. 😬 I am so glad there were photographers at all of the excursions so that we could have some good pictures of our 15th anniversary that was ruined by a Carnival cruise nightmare. Please don't take this review as me wanting any freebies. The only thing free I'd take from Carnival is tickets on the Royal Caribbean or Virgin.
