Hi hutch8231,

I don't know if the bike rides will be run in September as well. I guess it depends on how well (or not) these 2 preliminary ones go in August.

If they do extend in to Sept., I'll share the info on here.

Don't forget, you can always find plenty of bike routes (of various difficulties) around Los Alcázares mapped on sites like Mapmyride or Strava.

Also, for anyone who may be interested in the August rides, they've changed the dates now to the 13th & 27th August. Apparently the dates on the first one were incorrect. This is the new info for the new dates: https://goo.gl/p2amnd

The old link in the OP therefore no longer works.

Cultura Los Alcázares have also added that the route will also include visits to several of the fantastic murals of the urban art project 'Pueblo Pintado' developed by La Compañía de Mario collective.

Cultura Los Alcázares have announced an additional bike ride.

'South coast' bike ride.

Friday 21st Aug 2015 @ 08:00.

Meet and depart from the Municipal sports complex.

You must pre-register. Do so at the Tourist Office.

The ride is to the Saladar de Lo Poyo. This is actually in Cartagena Municiplaity but as it's between Los Alcázares and Los Nietos, it's quite nearby.

If you want to know more about this area of protected salt marsh and what you may find there, you can have a look https:/…Saladar_de_Lo_Poyo

There was a fire there at the end of July. Hopefully, there is still plenty to see.

Next Sunday, November 8th, Los Alcázares celebrates 'Dia de la Bicicleta' with an historic route that will travel around the town of Los Alcázares. Registration will take place on the same Sunday at 10:00 AM in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and departure an hour later.

Persons taking part in this Sunday's route can enjoy the history, art and beautiful landscapes of Los Alcázares. All this in a fun atmosphere for all ages, with music and some surprises.

During the tour you can view some of the elements of our architectural heritage, such as the homes designed by Víctor Beltrí and Pedro Celdrán, as well as the promenade, the Marina or the Military Base among others.

The route will be completed with a visit to some of the works of the project "El Pueblo Pintado" by the artistic and cultural association, La Compañía de Mario, by more than 20 artists.

PS: I realise that the route map says December and not November. I'm assuming that the date of the ride on the Town Council website is correct!

I stumbled across today's event by accident this morning. It looked to be extremely well organised and supported, glorious morning for it, it has to be said. I would estimate 2 - 3 hundred participants of all ages, nationalities and levels of equipment. A lot of Spanish family groups. All credit to the council for organising this and the other events.

Hi EPC,

Good to hear that it was so well attended and as you say, perfect weather for cycling.

AFAIK, the next ride is next Saturday and the next foot route at the end of the month.

You'll have to get the bikes out of the garage for next Saturday...😉
