Pune to Shirdi takes over 5 hours by road. Most people also visit the Shani temple at Shingnapur as part of this circuit.

Shingnapur village became famous because none of the houses have doors.

There is not much to see on the Pune - shirdi route, unless you are interested in visiting the Narayangoan winery.

Lavanya,

Please note that you cannot visit Ajanta Ellora in one day. You need minimum 2 nights and 3 days.

I will suggest you to visit Nashik, Trimbakeshwar and Shinganapur.

Sumeet,

You finish darshan in the morning on 18th and move to Shinganapur

and from there reach Aurangabad for overnight stay.

19th you can cover Ellora and Daulatabad fort and local sight seeing.

on 20th visit Ajanta and can proceed to Nashik for overnight stay.

Take darshan at Trimbakeshwar (one of the 12 jyotirlingas) and do local sight seeing and in the evening late reach Mumbai.

Hi Minilady,

There are no doors to the houses in Shinganapur and people do not lock their houses. But there is a branch of a nationalised bank and they have very strong doors and a big lock. too(LOL).

There is a police station also in Shinganapur and they too have chart showing statistics of crimes and photographs of "wanted criminals" displayed on the walls. (LOL)

Hi Sandyjee,

People go to Shirdi especially on Thursday as it is a day of Sai Baba. It is just like poeple visit Mahim Church on Wednesday or to Mount Mary during fare despite the crowd and rain.

Hindus have distributed the days of the week among various Gods.

Monday for Shiv Shankar Bhagwan

Tuesday for Ganesh

Wednesday - holiday

Thursday - Datta Guru and all Baba and Maharaj like Sai Baba

Friday - Goddess like Mahalaxmi, Kali mata etc.

Saturday for Hanumanjee or Maruti

Sunday - holiday
