Beaches in Hersonissos

Hi we will be staying in Koutouloufari and want to walk down to the beaches in Hersonissos.

We have a 13 and 10 year old and know that a walk to Stalis will be too far to walk with thme moaning so will go by bus or taxi (assume taxi would be just as cheap for 4 of us?) I wanted to know are the beaches public or do we have to rent loungers on them. Thanks in advance.

All of the beaches are open to the public, although if you want sunbeds and parasols then you normally have to pay around the €5-7 per pair, some may be free if they are owned by the taverna if you purchase drinks and food from them.

Alternatively you can just throw your towels down for free.

I'm sure your children would enjoy a day at Star Beach (a 15/20 minute walk from Koutouloufari). The beaches there are so so but there are pools there, plenty of sunbeds an area with water slides.

Depending where you are staying, you could walk down to Star Beach from the main junction on the eastern side of KTLF, then carry on along the slip road by the side of the main road with the sea on your left for another 5 minutes, which takes you to another good beach - it's called Alekos. We were there a few weeks ago and it wasn't too busy, plenty of room to throw your towels down, or in our case a massive beach throw/blanket...A lovely sandy beach.

You're right, the walk to Stalis isn't a good idea in the interests of family harmony, bus will be about €6.40 or taxi will be a bit more for the 4 of you.

We usually pay 12-15euro for a taxi to Stalis but we stay at Bellos bit further out. Lovely beach and the water is really shallow and clear. Go every time

Yes, cross over the road and turn right, walking along the slip road by the side of the main road with Star Beach on your left.

At the end of Star Beach a small road merges in from the left, then you just walk across a car park area to get to Alekos beach is there on the left. It's only about 5 mins or so.

Hi. We are travelling to Heronissos on Friday. Do I need beach shoes for the local beaches.(ie. Are they stony) Also, is the area any good for snorkelling?

You will need beach shoes for some of the beaches at Hersonissos, not stony but have huge slabs of rock that are slippy. If you go to Aleko's beach or visit Stalis you will not.
