Fishing Protaras

I'm flying out on Sun 22nd and wondered if anyone has recently done any sea fishing around the Protaras area. I'm going to do a bit of fishing from the local beaches/rocks/piers but am also interested in some offshore fishing. Anyone tried chartering a boat out there for a full or half day rather than the usual 10-12 at-a-time type trips?

Any info would be useful,

One of the most popular spots for fishing is at ayia triada bay. My husband tried it last winter but didn't catch anything though. the locals youths alos fish off cape greco very early in the morning and are quote successful.

As for getting a boat which isn't on an organised group trip you would probably be best just going down to the harbours and asking. In Protaras itself there is mainly tourist boast so you may be better going to the harbour by the golden coast in Pernera or to Ayia Triada harbour just outsode Protaras or even to Ayia Napa harbour which is much bigger.

You can go for tuna or for swordfish all over Cyprus but sea in protaras is calmer than other cities. Know that fishing while diving is illegal, also you need a license for spearfishing

We booked a tuna fishing trip with these guys. We had a fantastic morning and as you can see from the home page we caught a few as well!

We were picked up from Anais Bay hotel at 4.50am and we back before breakfast finished at 10.00. It cost 45 euros each and was worth every penny! Nic at Manic Ribs will give you all the help you need, and Tassos the boat's skipper knows what he's doing. Highly recommended!
