Google Earth

Why oh why are the Google Earth pictures for Eastern Cyprus areas such as Protaras, Paralimni and Ayia Napa still from 2003 when the rest of the island has imagery taken in 2008 and 2009. This being one of the tourist hot spots, it would be very helpful to be able to view more up to date pictures. They can't argue security any more especially as Northern Cyprus is more up to date.

Come on Google, get those satellites cameras pointed at Eastern Cyprus !

Are you sure you are looking in the right place where your apartment is? None of the imaging on Google Earth should be anywhere near to 20 years old. The low resolution images are provided by the Landsat 7 satellite - which was only launched in 1999. For the higher resolution images, these are all aircraft images (orthophotography). If an area is not in high resolution, then there is only the lower resolution Landsat images.
