Supermarkets near Pernera

We will be staying in Pernera in May and have the use of a car. Are there any large supermarkets in the area and what sort of prices can we expect for the basics ie. milk, bread, salad and fruit.

There are several large supermarkets in Paralimni, the nearest town to Pernera. Orphanides would be the closest just before you get to the town. There is also a Carrefour and Kokkinos a bit further round. Prices will be a bit dearer than the UK, although some fruit and veg and some meat is cheaper.

If you want english type food like baked beans, lean bacon, cheddar cheese I would take them with you as they are much dearer in Cyprus.

If you look on cyprusliving forum there is an update of prices of basic things so you can compare.

There's also a very good supermarket in Pernera itself - opposite The Jolly Waiter taverna. Stocks most things including fresh meat - slightly more expensive than out of town supermarkets but very convenient. Good bakery on the top road left hand side going towards Protaras - sorry can't remember the name. If you eat the Cyprus village bread you will find it cheaper and much tastier than English style bread otherwise groceries on par with UK prices. English brands obviously much more expensive. As the previous post says Orphanides is a good large supermarket heading towards Paralimni - only 10 minute drive from Pernera and you will find everything in there.
