Worthwhile?

Though I have read that Giarre hosts a handicraft market in December, locals that I have asked know nothing about it, but Giarre will have a Programma di Natale and you might enjoy Il museo del Presepio di Giarre.

You certainly know Italy with all your posts.

We are going to Sicily on Nov 29 to Palermo and diving to Avola for the first week. Then we drive back to the west coast and stay 15 min from the airport for the 2nd week.

Do you know of any special things going on at that time?

Where would you recommend going on the east and west coast? We will be driving.

Would you think a day trip to see Etna from Palermo is feasible as we are meeting up with our daughter who is coming in for the 2nd week?

Is Malta worthwhile for a day.

Know of any wine tours in the west?

What kind of weather can we expect?

Thanks for the help in advance.

As I said our daughter is coming to Palermo for the 2nd week.

Coming from Hanoi. I want to add her as a 2nd driver for the 2nd week.

She doesn't have a IDP - can she get one at the local Auto Club in Trapani?

Thanks

Ciao Whitby4665,

How did you decide on Avola – Avola will be very quiet at this time of the year!

www.siracusa-sicilia.it/english/avola.htm

November/December is low season. Those visiting for cultural, culinary or historical interests would be well rewarded, and cities are especially good destinations in November.

Despite that statement above issued by the Italian Government Tourist Board, the IDP may have to be issued by your own country prior to your departure – Check with the Canadian Automobile Association.

Vag.- Problem with IDL

I have an IDL with my Canadian License.

Problem is our daughter is meeting us in Palermo for the 2nd week and I want to add her as a 2nd driver. Problem is she is working in Hanoi and does not have a IDL.

Any solution that you know?

Thanks for all the other info.

Ciao Whitby4665,

Have you tried contacting the Canadian Automobile Association?

I tried contacting the Automobile Club d'Italia in Rome, Trapani and Palermo, and all the offices were closed, but I will try again after lunch.

The Automobile Club d'Italia in Sicily never reopened – Many are only open during in the morning.

The Automobile Club d'Italia in Roma (06 502681) indicated that they would not be able to issue the IDP because it must be issued by your own country, but they suggested that a Canadian Embassy in Italy might be able to issue the permit.

The Canadian Embassy is located at Via Zara 30, in Rome (tel. 06-854441).
