Bareback Elephant Ride

I appreciate Elephant riding is generally not well thought of. However I have a 12 y/o boy who is desperately keen to ride upon an elephant bareback whilst we are staying in Habarana (Mutu Village).

Can anyone advise if they have done this here, with whom and how was it?

We're not looking for a full or half day thing, more a hour or two.

Thanks in advance.

Never heard it existing there, always with saddles. MEF in Pimawala offers it.

Perhaps just explain to him why elephant riding isn't a good thing and take him to see some elephants in their natural habitat instead.

We went to the millennium elephant foundation in Rambukkana which was educational, you could ride the elephants with a blanket underneath (they are incredibly boney btw) and wash them down in the flowing river.

Hope this helps
