We need to take a (direct?) ferry from Kefalonia to Corfu on Saturday 8th July 2016. Can anyone help with info?
I can find no evidence of a ferry running direct between the two islands these years despite being asked several times. I would love to be proved wrong!
There are direct flights between the two. Based on the current timetable there should be a flight on the Saturday. See link
Hope this is some help.
I don't think there is a ferry route, unless there's something new for 2016. You could look at
although it doesn't look as if they've released flights that far ahead yet. Current timetable doesn't have a flight on a Friday, but does on a Thursday and Saturday. However, this will be the winter timetable, so guessing there'll be more flights per week in the summer maybe- perhaps someone can confirm more. The fares are pretty reasonable.
I think ferries would possibly give you a two-day complicated travel route involving ferries and buses/car, but again, perhaps someone who's done it could clarify.
Edit: sorry, cross-posting with Bob.Edited: 24 December 2015, 21:48
Isn't the 8th July a Friday??
It is indeed
A ferry is very unlikely, there has been the odd hi-season ferry in the past.
The alternative quick way is to fly with Sky Express. There are various ferry + overland routes, they can be interesting but take many days.
The quickest overland route is to take the ferry to Kylini or Patras and get the intercity bus to Corfu from the Rio side of the bridge just east of Patras (city buses). I'm out of date on the exact info, so check.
Not easy if you don't have your own car. No local Kefalonia car rental company will let you take a car to Lefkada let alone onto the mainland.
You won't get next summer timetables yet.
Here is a link to westferry who run the ferry,
Here below is a link to a typical summer schedule and I don't expect it to change much.
PS I assume you have checked with the rental company that they are happy about you taking the car on ferries
I think that reference is very out of date, the route varies somewhat as to ports and their order, typically Vasiliki but maybe Nidri, not that it matters to you, you can expect roughly 2 ferries per day from Fiscardo to Lefkada. Morning/afternoon are typical rough timings, the ferry ticket agency in Fiskardo will tell you the latest info.
