A week in Corfu

Hi there,

We are a couple in our 30's (no kids), palnning to visit Corfu between Sep 17-Sep 24.

I am wondering in which area of the island to stay.(We are in to night life and restaurants but not very fancy about mass tourist palces....)

I'll appreciate some recommendations from you:)

If you have some specific recommendations about places to stay, that we be great.

Regards,

Sharon

A bit late in the season to be too isolated Acheravi, Sidari, Roda, st steph/n Arillas, Kasioppi spring to mind

Gouvia, near to corfu town

Nice time of year to walk, and explore, the searing heat of july, and August gone, sea warm and inviting, pools cooling down

Tourist numbers less in September, , roads are quieter, hire a car and see this beautiful island

Hi and thank you very much for the quick reply.

As far as I understood' it's not really possible to swim in the sea during Sep.

The question is, is it worthwhile to visit Corfu in this session?

Regards,

Sharon

yes it is /// water very warm due to high temp in july and august water very warm till december the greeks swim at xmas around corfu town

The pools cool down you need cardi, or wrap for late evenings in sept , nice for walking as the searing heat gone

Only things against Sept is the wasps , at grape harvest they are a pest

greeks burn coffee granuals, let them smoulder, if you eat outside keeps the pesky things at bay

take a look at [www.agni.gr] and [rodaonline] for more ideas

Hi there and thanks for all the info.

We are considering to stay 3 nights in Pyrgi which is quiet close to Corfu city and than to travel up north.

Are you familiar with Pyrgi?

Piryi is much quieter than Ipsos and makes a nice base to explore the mountain villages of Spartilas, Strinilas and Old Perthia whilst still being fairly close to Corfu Town.

Thank you very much for the quick reply.

Hope we've made the right choice.

After 3 days we'll travel up north, doubting betwenn Sidari and Kassiopi.

I like Kassiopi, very nice harbour which offers boat trips, good pebble beaches, plenty of Tavernas and it moe authentic than Sidari.
