Staying in Corfu Town

Thanks for the previous input about a nice island to stay. Corfu looks perfect. As Corfu Town is a hub for transport we are presuming that is the place to stay for 4-5 days. We intend to be there for Easter 2011. Some questions

1. At that time of year will there be many cruise ships visiting? Are they frequent or occasional?

2. At that time of year will restaurants, sites and museums be open?

3. What are some reasonable places to stay, central but with private facilities and not too many steps to haul luggage? We are open to hotels, B&Bs and apartments/studios.

4. We are thinking of hiring a car for part of the trip and then taking it back to tour mainland Greece, finishing in Athens Is this feasible?

Answers to any or all questions would be appreciated.

Easter is a big event in Corfu so it would be worth bearing in mind that the town could be extremely busy during this period.
