I am arriving on 29 August, just wondering which is the best area of the beach, staying around the Starlight beach bar area, any recommendations for sun beds etc would be great.
There are a number of beaches one is to the West of the harbour. Up to the Valinakis Beach Hotel. A lot of the youngsters get here. Another smaller one, rocky going in near the Ariadne studios and Hollywood Bar ( new name think it’s Milos Mikos something like that)to the East. Also to the East you have a small sandy bay in front of Manos Bar sandy access here, and Anna’s Bar. Gets rocky the further East. Further along you have areas of sand in front of bars studios rocky. Further along in front of Anemos restaurant Banana Beach Bar you have a vast length of beach up to some of the AI resorts, miles out from the village. This stretch you could be the only person for hundreds of metres.
Many thanks for your reply, any other comments re beach and sun beds etc would be great.
There is a lovely little beach area when you go over the bridge and past Ta Adelphia restaurant We used the beds at Casa Rossa restaurant. The beds were free so long as you buy a drink and the area was lovely and laid back with no pressure to buy more drinks (although admittedly we had a few). Hope this helps.
We also went to the area just past Banana beach and just sat on our towels in the little coves one day and really enjoyed it.
Thanks for your reply, we will have a day at the Casa Rosa.
Also over the bridge, dried up river bed. There’s the Posidonia Taverna, that has a narrow strip of sand below the terrace. Worth visiting in the day for a cold drink or in the evening for a meal.
Thanks for your suggestions will gIve them a try.
Personally I think the beaches to the east are better, they tend t be less rocky and wider, some of the western "beaches" are more like a shore front than an actual beach.
Ifyou want the best beach on the island then a 20 min drive to Tigaki beach
