Naples vs.FMB vs Marco Island etc??

How do I chose between all the above locations for a 1 week vacation end of November for a couple, no kids? We go to FLA a lot but it's always been St. Pete's Beach, Orlando or Fort Lauderdale. We like a nice beach, 4* or better accomodations, good Brand name shopping, and nice restaurants. I have been leaning towards Naples, but is there a "beachy" area to Naples? What's the best beach resort area in SW Gulf Coast? Thanks!

On FMB, check out Pink Shell Resort its located on the North End. Edison House is located closer to Time Square a conglomorant of shops, restaurants. bars and our Fishin" Pier. Holiday Court Villas is across from Time Square, a newly renovated quaint place on the quiet back bay and right in the middle of it. We have white sugar sand and walking distance to GR8 food, shopping and live entertainment. Come On Down.

If I were to recommend Florida and beaches to a friend I would say you must see: Key West, South West Florida and Florida panhandle.

KW is great for partying and the island feeling.

SW Florida for beaches, food and shopping.

Florida panhandle for families at the beach.

Naples has a long beach with about 4? hotels on the beach, lots of shopping and lots of restaurants. Is Naples beachy? Yes but you have limited on beach living. Consider the Ritz on Naples Beach for high end living.

Since I know Marco ... Marco is a smaller version of Naples and not as large/sophisticated. There are 3 hotels and many condo's on the 4-6 mile beach. (4-6 miles depends if you have low or high tide ... at low tide you continously walk from South Marco to about Old Marco.)

Naples best fits your profile if you want a high end hotel and good restaurants.

Marco Island has the Marriott Marco Resort - Hilton Marco Resort to name two and there are many more Hi-end Resorts o Marco. Resort Hotel Beaches tend to be expansive, with cabana rentals, parsailing, jetskii/Hobe cat rentals and of course the Gulf of Mexica. Marco offers, two public beaches and both are superb. They are South Beach Marco Island at the very end of Marco and Tigertail Beach -more family oriented.

Naples has quite a bit more beaches with a variety of different and beautiful beaches. Some of them are Napl;es Pier Beach (next to 5th Ave & 3rd St South, Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club (Sunset Beach Bar), Clam Pass (natural beach - great active swimming beach pass, Vanderbilt Beach (my personal choice) home of The Ritz Carlton, Laplaya Resort, Vanderbilt Resort, the Turtle Club.

Vanderbilt Beach really is a beach communtiy within Naples like Cape Cod, MA Lake George, NY..

Lowermilk beach the best family oriented Beach in all of Florida (my oppinion-and others), Wiggins Pass another natural beaches where you can Surf Fish the pass (the best in Naples) bird watch, kayak/canoe rentals, wildlife tours by bicycle...etc. Barefoot Beach at the border of Naples and Bonita springs. again is a 300 are plus preserve offering more than beach activities as bird watching, Ranger Tours, Kayak/canoeing and tours

Barefoot beach/Wiggins Pass/Vanderbilt Beach/Lowermilk Beach have all been listed at one time or multipliable times best beaches in the US.

Fort Myers beach attracts the young and the young at heart. Plenty of activities and action on or off the beach. The Beach is great but the action is the hook.

You can arrive at all the beaches by boat or car.

Thanks for all the great info and tips! Have found a couple of good packages on Expedia that look like options

Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort

or

Naples Grande Beach Resort - Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resort.

Prices are comparable for 9 nights this month.

Which one is better located in terms of the beach and dining/shopping?

Naples Grande Beach Resort vs Marco Hilton

- Hilton is directly on the 4-6 mile beach. Not so at the Grande

- You may have a outstanding view of Marco beach (depends on the room)

- You walk 100 feet from the pool to the beach at the Hilton

- Marco Hilton has every water sport on the beach you can think of and great pool bar/restaurant

- Naples has a lot of high end restaurants more so than Marco

- Naples is a larger city with traffic, compared to Marco, but November in Naples is not wall to wall yet

Good luck with your decison.

Wow! The level of detail in these replies is off the charts! Can't thank you enough, no decision yet, but tomorrow! Would like to combine the best of the Hilton and Naples Grande for the perfect hotel directly on the beach...oh well....
