Santa Elena Reserve

I was reading the hiking trails in the Santa Elena Reserve are more challenging than El Selvatura. Right now we have the walkways tours, hummingbird and butterfly gardens scheduled. I understand we can eat lunch at the Monteverde reserve and then walk right to the Santa Elena Reserve. If we have say 1.5 to 2 extra hours for Santa Elena, can someone recommend the best way to spend it and what if any trail would be relatively easy to moderate.

Thanks in advance.

1. Re: Santa Elena Reserve

You can walk from Selvatura to the Santa Elena reserve very easily- to walk from the Monteverde reserve to Santa Elena reserve would be quite a haul as it takes probably 25 minutes to drive between the two.In the Santa Elena reserve you have 4 trails to choose from: Youth challenge trail-45 minutes(1.4km) Del Bajo trail- 1.5 hrs(2.6km) Encantado trail 2.5hrs(3.4km) and the Cano Negro trail 3.5hrs(4.8km)
